Loonies: gets crowded fast, but really fun!

    by npratt11 Written Dec 27, 2007 3 reviews

Loonies is actually really fun, it was one of our favorites when I studied in Florence a couple years ago. They have live music and I will agree that it is a little better on the weekdays as opposed to weekends. If you get there too late, good luck finding a seat! If you are claustrophobic, this place is not a great idea as it's downstairs and only has one way in and out. Great fun though, it's definitely worth a look...

    Loonies: Live music 1

Not bad! On fridays and saturdays, this underground nightclub with live music tends to be too crowded, but it's ok.
Lots of local guys storm in on weekend nights looking for fresh foreign female flesh!
But on weeknights this place is really nice.
Have fun, but don't expect the drinks to be very good.

Loonies is a fun place. It is sometimes a little overpopulated by tourists, but nice just the same. They have live music some nights, good djs on other nights. The staff is really friendly and drinks are good.

    Loonies: 2 for 1

If you find Loonies, you're in luck. Hidden in the basement of a non-descript building, Loonies was a favorite local hang-out when I lived in Florence. Get there before 9 pm and enjoy 2-for-1 Happy Hour (I prefer their capriciosas or Malibu/Ananas cocktails). Live music is the rule here, but sometimes the bands aren't as good as the drinks.

Overall, cool bartenders and a fun crowd of Italians and study-abroad kids.

Dress Code: None that I know of, but don't roll in pajamas. Superman T's may be frowned upon by the lead singer, too.
