    Maracana: Hot brazilian nightclub

This is according to me the hottest place in the whole Florence. At least on Sundays. Or, at least it was...

But lets take it from the beginning. Maracana is located in the central parts of Florence. A restaurant/nightclub that has its best evenings on Sundays. Open all week long, except Mondays, but during the week the atmosphere is worse, and it's more of a meat market for guys coming there only to pick up girls.
When I've been there with my friends we have always started with the meat buffé, which gives you some 1st plate, where you take what you want from the buffé. Then for the real meal the waiters comes out with huge sticks with meat on, which they then cut into pieces and place on your plate. One piece isn't the same as anyone else, so after a while you'll feel like you have eaten different meat from all over the world.

Take to this a nice red wine, and you'll be more than pleased!
At around 11pm they start a dance session, performed by a group of incredible talented dancers. Mostly they dance samba, and at the end of the show they pick up people from the tables too, who gets to join them.

Last time two of my friends were "picked", but managed to make the dance girl to believe that it was my brother's birthday, so she picked him instead.

He was... eh... not so pleased. :)

After midnight the show is over, and big parts of the restaurant turns into a nightclub instead, where a lot of people goes to without eathing the dinner first. The atmosphere on Sundays have always been great, and it's a relax feeling all over the place.

Unfortunately something seems to have changed the last six months. My friend in Florence has been there a couple of times, and he says that Sundays now are as bad as any other day. Guys (would write italian guys from outside Florence, but that wouldn't be too nice to them, would it? ;) ) comes there only to find something fun for the night...

It would be a shame if all this is true, as Maracana truly was one of the best nightclubs I've ever been too!

Dress Code: You'll have to dress up a bit. Not smoking, but still a bit nicer than jeans and a white t-shirt.
For eating you must book a table in advance, and to get inside the nightclub without eating you should be there at midnight at least to avoid the long lines.

Also, have a look at the travelogue from this last magic night at Maracaná. :)

    Maracanà: Casa do Samba

Maracanà is a lively Brazilian themed spot for swinging your hips, half restaurant half bar, after midnight it turns into a latin disco venue. A good time is guaranteed - whether you are sampling the specialities of the house such as "feijoada" or "churrasco con farofa", or enjoying the various live acts which are put on after dinner, such as the "capoeristi di Bahia" or the Luis Bocana dancers where the women are dressed up in bikinis and peacock feathers and men dressed as tribal dancers! Maracanà has great beers and excellent "cachaca" (sugar cane grappa) and its late hours make it perfect for night hawks. When you get tired, there's ample seating, a huge bar, and a big video screen showing anything from Caribbean beach scenes to soccer matches to rock videos. On the way in or out, make sure to pay homage to the re-created Amazon jungle courtyard complete with artificial creek and three very real not to mention loud peacocks.

The amazing brazilian show of Maracan
