Treat yourself for at least a one-day trip to Tuscany and explore some of the vineyards. There’s nothing like a good Chianti Classico. The wine is scrumptious and pretty inexpensive there.

A visit to Piazzale Michel-Angelo. It's a bit of a hike but well worth it when you see the city views like the one above. It's located on the other side of the Arno from central Florence.

this is a so called 'mall' that is located right niext to the main duomo. The square is huge and has lot of vendors and peddalers trying to make an over priced buck.

Maybe not off the beaten path, but you may feel beaten after you climb the 400+ steps to the top of the Duomo--the view is well worth it. (When I was there, there was no fencing)
