One of my favourite places where to shop good quality and nice products at good prices.
Once a year I book a long week-end stay in Florence or nearby The Mall to visit The Mall, to enjoy the exquisite Tuscan cuisine, to stay in a nice hotel or agriturismo...that's relaxing!
I suggest this very relaxing and enjoyable short-holiday to everybody...! Families included.
Tuscany has a sophisticated yet genuine and familiar uniqui "touch"...
As Italians say...ciao!

What to buy: fashion, whatever you need...bags, accessories, clothes, jewellery, shoes, sunglasses...for you or your friends

If you´re in Florence and looking for designer clothe for a good price, The Mall is the right place. There are all, Armani, Gucci, Valentino, Ungaro, etc. I looked for a Gucci bag and i got it, my sister bought 2 bags, an Armani and the other one of Yamamoto, a japanese designer. The place is very nice and they have a big restaurant where you can have something while you wait for the bus to back to Florence. To go there, click here

When you want to do some great shopping in Florence at bargain prices, then you must go to The Mall, a designer outlet located in Leccio, a town outside of Florence. YOu can go there by bus or car. The bus ride took about 1 hour and it went through some of the most scenic areas of Tuscany's villages.

The bus fare is 2.50€ one-way. There are shopping tours available and they can take you there but they will cost more.

What to buy: Major designer products at bargain prices! You can get items at 30% - 50% less than retail outlets anywhere in major cities.

On sale are designer goods from Armani Jeans (AJ), Fendi, Burberry, Pucci, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sergio Rossi, La Perla, Alexander McQueen, Tod's, Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro, Ermenegildo Zegna, Bottega Veneta, Emporio Armani, Valentino, and I Pinco Pallino.

What to pay: You can get items at 30% - 50% less than retail outlets anywhere in major cities. For example, my sister bought a beautiful white shirt from Armani-Jeans for Euro 30. For a pair of leather loafter shoes from Ferragamo, I paid Euro 140 -> more than 50% less than in any shoe boutiques outside!

Deep discounts on designer labels. I bought a pair of Salvatorre Ferragamo shoes for 105 euros.

Getting there: Save some money and hassle by taking the SITA bus. The station is one block from the S.M.N. Train Station in Florence. It's 3.50 euro one way. The bus takes you directly to the outlet mall. No need to worry about trains and taxi cabs. And save some money on fare. The ride is about 45 minutes.

Shops at the Mall

The Mall, 45 min out of Florence in the hills of Tuscany, is an area where you will find designer retail outlets that sell off-season clothes, shoes, bags, etc for less than retail. I found a few pair of items for at least 50% off from what I would pay for where I live.

To get here, you can take the Sita bus (blue) with the sign "The Mall" or "Leccio" at the depot near the train station and buses leave from Monday to Saturdays at certain hours so you should plan your time in case you miss the last bus back to Florence. Preferably, you should leave in the morning or on the first bus out. The bus fare is 2.50€ one-way

There are some outlet shopping tours available and they can take you to other designer outlets as well, e.g Prada but they will cost more

What to buy: This is the real deal! You can buy apparels from Gucci, Ferragamo, Fendi, La Perla, Burberry, Armani, to name a few

What to pay: Expect to pay 30%-50% less than you would in town

Mall is an outlet villagee just outside Florence. All the shops are high end labels and you can get some real bargains there. The stores include:

Armani Jeans exchange
Burberry
Todds
Marni
Emporio Armani
Gucci
Yves Saint Laurent
Emmanuel Ungaro
Emilio Pucci
Salvatore Ferragamo
La Perla....

(... there is a Japanese desinger whose name begins with 'Y' bit it escapes me at the moment )

We had a good afternoon there, I got some Ferragamo heels for 118 euros and a YSL bag for 60 euros. My friend picked up a large Ungaro scarf for 60 euros and some Marni shoes for 60 euros.

What to buy: Each shop has great bargains so go with your tastes. Burberry had some good prices for watches and cufflinks, Armani looked good for shoes, as did Ferragamo.

What to pay: anything for 60 euros to about 500

The MALL: Getting to the MALL and what's where

Went to the MALL in mid may...it's best to go before the weekend for better selection. We went on a Thursday, where I managed to find a nice Gucci purse for 180 euros, which retails in the stores for 460 euros and on the US Gucci website for $695 - yes, I checked. There was a wide range of nice bags to choose from that day. We went back on the Tuesday following and all the good stuff was gone. Fendi had a sale on sunglasses...my mom and I both got a pair for 40 euros each...they retailed for 180euros in the stores.

And the Dot.com cafe has really good grilled panini sandwiches and pizzas. It's a nice atmosphere as well.

To reach THE MALL by train from Florence, take the train from Maria Santa Novella station direction Borgo San Lorenzo (regional). Your destination is NOT Sieci BUT Rignano. From Rignano you can get a taxi (max price ~10 EURO). It's just 5 min to the mall.

The Gucci outlet is in Leccio Reggello about a 30 min drive from Florence. It's located in a mall together with other designer outlets, like Armani and Sergio Rossi.
I went there in August 2003 and summer sales where going on. All the shops had good bargains on womens shoes. Gucci for instance had several very fashionate, very high heeled sandals for 30 Euro. Armani had some good deals on clothes too. And I found a beautiful pair of shoes at the ungaro shop for 70 Euro. However most of the stuff is still pretty expensive. Surely a bag for 500 Euro that originally cost more than 1000 Euro is a great bargain, but still to much for me.

We also went to the Fendi outlet about 5km away, which is pretty large. They had some pretty good deals and some fantastic bags.
