This is the nobleman Berenson's nineteenth century villa. If you want to know how the area around the villa has stayed so charmingly rural, the answer is: Berenson bought the valley!
Now Harvard has established itself here as a research centre, with an obvious specialisation on Art History and Renaissance History.
If you are keen to visit, then you will have to be very persistent, because they don't like them. Advance contact is essential. Or become a bona fide scholar.

Berenson's nineteenth century villa amongst the stunningly beautiful outskirts of Florence. If you want to know why it;'s managed to remain so rural, the answer is Berenson bought all the land!
Villa i Tatti is Harvard's research centre in Florence, with a specialisation obviously on Renaissance art and history. They don;t like tourists, understandably, so you have to book in advance if you're really desperate to get in. Or become a bona fide scholar!
