First of all, you won't see any name in the shop window. I just asked him his name in order to remember it because I felt in love with his hand made bags and i want to go there again. Medium sized bags cost more or less 80 euros and he stressed NOTHING came from China but everything is still made by Tuscany's old handcrafts. If you are in love with nice bags as I am, do not miss it.

The fact that this bookstore was open so late at night intruiged me so I went for a browse late one night and enjoyed the atmosphere. Pretty much all the books are in Italian but I enjoyed seeing the design books they had on offer and bought a few cute giftcards. It's worth a look. There's also a coffee shop in it (generally by day though as far as I'm aware!)
What to buy: There are lovely giftcards and of course many many books of all different sorts. There's a good selection of art books and many english books that are translated into spanish.
What to pay: It's not overpriced but beware of buying too many books as you'll need to carry them home on the plane (or in your backpack!)

We found here some really nice old paintings - dating abt the beggining of 20th century and one even - end of 18th century. Although these paintings have an appropriate look for their age and are painted on thick paper or smth like this - it's a good place to find some old original painting for a good price.
What to buy: Old paintings without frames
What to pay: Abt 100 euro each painting

Every third weekend of the month in old town in the area included by Piazza Grande, Piazza San Martino, Piazza San Giusto and Piazza Bernardini there is the antique market.
Furnitures, paintings, and other old goods are sold in the open by small stall.

As you know Italy has a great food tradition in Europe. But you can find great food not only in restaurant. Simply go shopping to the grocers and bakerys where people of Lucca goes, you will discover a lot of simple but delicious food.
The streets around Via Fillungo are full of grocers, butchers and bakers.
What to buy: Olive oil, home-made style bread, pork-butchery, wine... are only an axample of the huge number of things that you absolutely have to try.
And if you could take them with you I am sure that nobody will appreciate more a souvenir.

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning in the Porta Elisa Stadium there is the city market. Here you can find almost any kind of goods at a cheaopest price than in the old town shops. Obviuosly the quality is not so good. But if you are looking for something cheap to get as a souvenir of your visit it can be the right place.

Via Fillungo is one of the main streets in Lucca.
It is lined with clothing/shoe and accessory shops, inter-mingled with restaurants and some interesting old buildings.
It is the place to shop in Lucca.
Unfortunately we were there on a Monday, and all the shops were closed : ((
But we did plenty of window shopping!

This is a small, high quality shop of housewares and gifts located in the Roman Ampitheater section of Lucca.
What to buy: Olive oil is a great thing to buy in Lucca although this shop dioes not sell food items. I purchased these great soaps here that in NYC would probably cost you $10.00/each - they had them for 2 Euro each.
What to pay: varies.

When visiting Tuscany you shouldn't miss their delicious olive oil. Tuscany is renowned for its good quality and tasty olive oil.
There is a wide choice concerning olive oil: "simple" or mixed with some great herbs or condiments such as basil, oregano, pepper and many other options. Prices will, obviously, depend on make and shop.
