Siena: Exploring Siena at Night

Dee in front of fountain in Siena at night.Although this may sound "square" to you "party animals", my favorite nightlife tip is to visit the famed Piazza Del Campo and its surrounding maze-like streets.The photo of me was taken by my husband Allan on our first night ever inSiena. That night was "magical" as we walked the narrow lanes toward Campo. I think that Piazza Del Campo is so famous because it is in the shape of a shell with a lovely brick floor divided into nine segments.Interestingly, the Campo is slanted because it was built at the confluence of the three hills on which the town rises. Also, I think that it is the largest Piazza that we saw in all the towns we visited in Italy.Because of the uphill climb on narrow lanes and alleyways, Siena is somewhat mysterious (similar to Venice) at night.
