Lo Studio: difficult to find a title...
If you are looking for an "outsider" restaurant, this is the place. It is run by a guy in his mid 30's always dressed like a theater clown (black and white tight, black hut, all face covered by white make up) who will welcome you with some jokes and some quotes of famous Italian poetry (Dante Alighieri above all). The ambiente is also very original and customized, nothing serial, every table is different and gathers a lot of styles.
The food was ok (the have a menu), perhaps more than ok, but actually, in Italy you can find better places to eat at the same prices.

RESTAURANT LENOTECA MARCUCCI: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE
We had the misfortune of dining in this over-rated restaurant on 17 July 2009.
Over-priced with mediocre food and chaotic service. We waited over 1 1/2 hrs for our main course & left part way during the meal [after our starters] due to the unacceptable delays in service.
Tables stuck directly next to one another making conversation with your partner very uncomfortable.
Elements of service that exist are targeted towards friends of the owner so that the rest of us have to sit and wait for food that never arrives!
DON'T BELIEVE THE PR!

Il gatto nero: touristy, crowded but very good
In winter it's a rather small place, but in summer they can enjoy of a beautiful dehor near the entrance door on Pietrasanta's ancient walls. Surely crowded, it also have a cocktail bar with a lot of young people and you might be asked to wait although you have booked a table, but the quality is good and priced reasonable. Service very kind and accurate, good selection of wines.
Favorite Dish: Antipasto del gatto was very nice and also the crostata al gianduia was unbeatable

La Dogana: Unbeatable
I have been spending some time in Tuscany for 3 years, since we have a summer house there and I can declare this is the best restaurant I've been to in Versilia area. Outside, it will not attract you particulary while inside it's a nice mix of traditional and modern ambience. It is run by a family, two cousins in their 30's and the father (the chef) of one of the two. There is also a nice portrait of him painted by a famous american painter living in Pietrasanta. Well, menu is rich but doesn't offer too many things, they have also seafood. Everything was perfect: kidness of people, size of dishes and their quality, desserts, wine (there is one sommelier) and coffee. I definitely reccomend it, although their English is quite poor (unfortuntaly, I must say: as usual in typical Italian restaurants...).
Closed on Monday all day long and on Tuesday for lunch time
Favorite Dish: I had a fantastic "fritto mistico" (mistic fried mix)
