Ther are some fantatic beaches and scubba diving on Elba. This picture is of the beach at Marino Di Campo.
Even in the 3rd century B.C., the beach called the Ghiaie was covered with small, smooth stones, just as we see it today. In fact, Apollonio Rodio said that the Argonauts came ashore here on Elba: 'They dried up their sweat with small stones of a uniform colour that lay on the Ghiaie (pebble) beach.' It is hard to doubt Apollonio Rodio as he had definitely been to Elba as much evidence shows. The legend has it that the white pebbles of the beach became spotted by the sweat of the Argonauts.
