San Ranieri's day is on june the 17th. In this occasion Pisa is covered by million of lights that compose the "LUMINARA" (that word means "road of lights" more or less in italian). On june the 16th you can walk around the Arno untill 10 p.m. then you must stop and look at the sky, you will see the fireworks :-))

Just another night tip, to remember how can be beautiful to walk along the river after dinner. It's relaxing and during the middle of june, this area is very quiet and close to the traffic (because of the day dedicated to San Ranieri, the Saint that takes care about Pisa).

In Pisa you may see the old medieval townwall still at many places in town.
The gate on my picture is the entrance to Piazza dei Miracoli and that gate will be locked after 10.00 p.m.
Somehow it is a bit spooky to walk there at night, but also rather romantic and you may easily imagine, what the whole town looked like in the ancient times.
Dress Code: No special dress required - Pisa is easy-going at night...

San Michele in Borgo is a lovely church that you will see, when walking across the Ponte d. Mezzo on your way to Piazza dei Miracoli.
The doors of the church will be locked at night, but also from outside it looks great, especially as the building next to it - an old Palazzo - is also perfectely lighted.
Have a look for that old palazzo on my next picture !

Take a walk along the river Arno to Santa Maria della Spina !
This lovely little church is a good excemple of a sight that is absolutely worth a visit at night, as it is perfectely lighted and you may see many more details of the great gothic facade than during most of the day.
The church looks best from OUTside, but if you intend to see the interior as well the other day, check out the opening-times, posted on the left of the main entrance !

This is the River Arno as we crossed from the station into town.
Lots of gorgeous colours lighting up the river.

Nice place for drinking, eating something and chatting.
Try Grelata Mixta with french fries and a nice cold beer (beer is expensive, drink it slowly!).

Mmm I didn't really check out the nightlife here, but this is a big city, so there should be something to do here at night too.
