And then at 20.55 I had my flight back home.
The flight time from Pisa to Brussels South - Charleroi is 1.50 h. So normally we would arrive in Charleroi around 22.45.
But we had an half an hour delay, as there was a problem with the number of passengers. No, no overbooking or so.
On the passenger list there were 179 passengers, and on board there were 180 passengers. First we were recounted several times, and then they checked if everyone was on the right plane.
Finally they started with checking each name on the passenger list. And what was the problem, on board there were a father and son with the same name (like senior and junior), so twice the same name and the computer had counted this only as one person. So it was the computer which had made a mistake. A half an hour later we could leave for Charleroi, where we arrived safely after a quiet flight.
Price for the ticket : 64 euro (taxes included)

Pisa has a rather small airport, very close to the centre of town.
And Pisa Airport has also its own trainstation
"PISA AEROPORTO"
Pisa Airport is the ONLY place, where you may store your lugguage in lockers since sep.11th ( the reason for this is the fact, that your lugguage may be scanned first there !)
At all the trainstations of Pisa you might only be able to store your lugguage at a counter , not beeing open all day, but for restricted times only. And at these places I always have the feeling, someone might search my lugguage while I am exploring the city

Flew from London Stansted, parking is about £25 to £30 for 48 hours,a bit expensive I feel, but at least its secure.
The flights these days are pretty basic ,but thats no excuse for rude staff, and this particuler crew were just that, abrupt and very short with passengers.

Pisa can be reached from other parts of Italy and continental Europe and UK by flights that fly into the Pisa International Airport. From London Gatwick, Pisa is served well by British Airways. Pisa international airport also has a train station from where you can catch trains to Florence. The trains take about an hour to reach Florence from where you can catch trains further to all other parts of Italy.

THe only airport I like more than the Florence airport is the Pisa Airport. It is the most user-friendly airport in Italy, the train from Florence pulls up 20 meters from the check-in area and it is a 5 minute cab ride from the Pisa mail railway station.
The following airlines serve Pisa:
Bristish Airways to London and beyond.
Air France to Madrid (weird huh?) and Paris
Basiqair to Amsterdam (low-cost carrier)
Ryanair to London, Brussels, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
Air Dolomiti
Iberia Regional
Lufthansa
Transavia to Amsterdam
AirOne
BMI Baby to East Mindlands and B'ham
Happag Lloyd Express to Cologne and Hamburg
Meridiana to Sicily and Sardegna
Also, tons of charter flights leave from Pisa during April to November to Egypt, Red Sea, Greece, Canary Islands etc...

Pisa has a modern international airport with a runway long enough to land planes with braking problems. (See the Florence page for the story).
The airport can easily be reached by train, just over one hour from Florence.

Pisa can be reached from airport Frankfurt-Hahn in Germany by Ryanair. Prices vary, it depends when you book it. Today it is 10 Euro oneway plus taxes.
The airport in Pisa is very small. You can go to the city by bus or train. A bus needs around 10 minutes and costs 0,70 Euro.

International Airport 'Galileo Galilei' .... only 2 km from the centre of the city and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, with direct access to expressways, motorways and railways.
There is a good Bus Line

We flew into Pisa on a fly/drive holiday. Getting off the plane, finding luggage, getting the car was a breeze. We were impressed with how easy it was. The airport is small so it was easy to find the car hire place. Leaving for our accommodation was really easy, too. There is only one exit from the airport and it leads straight to the motorway.
When we came back for a day visit, we parked near the river (but I would not be able to remember where!). The parking was free and we walked about 15 mins to get to the centre of town.
Walking is definitely the best way to get around and I would highly recommend walking away from the famous tower and all the tacky tourist crap. We enjoyed the city more the further away we got from the tourist area!
