il Baronetto is a small friendly restaurant serving up tasty pizzas and other dishes.

It was very busy the night we were there, and we ended up dining alfresco and sharing a table with a honeymooning British couple.

    Service was friendly and fun.

We all had some excellent pizzas washed down with a jug of their best house red.

    Delicious!

In the streets near the Piazza dei Miracoli, where you can see (and visit) the mayor tourist highlights of Pisa, there are several food stalls.

That is a good option for those who do not want to spend much money on a meal, or for the ones with little time, which do no want to loose too much time by eating in a restaurant.

I also stopped at this snack bar and I ordered a sandwich with Proscuito crudo, hmmm delicious. Also when it is hot I am not very hungry, a sandwich is enough. I payed 3 euro for the sandwich.

La Sapienza is a cafe/bar located in the heart of Pisa, not far from Piazza Girabaldi.

We stopped in here for a quick espresso and a croissant.

The coffee was excellent, and beacause we drank it standing at the counter, it only cost 80 cents.

    What a bargain!!

La Tana is a friendly, cheap restaurant, filled with students and the occasional tourist.

Service was friendly, servings were big and food was pretty good.

The cheap house red wine wasn't bad either!!

Only complaint was that the toilets are horrible.

    Delicious antipasto platter.

Pizza's were big with generous toppings.

This restaurant is close to the famous Piazza dei Miracoli and therefore, more or less the normal touristic restaurant. It was not bad but nothing special either. It's a good place to eat when you are staying around the Piazza.
You can sit outside on the sidewalk. There are many waiters and service is quick.

I had a typical Tuscan dish: Ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach. It was good but too 'dry' for me. I'd preferred a little bit more sauce.

Bar Fiume is located only a minute or two walk from the train station in Pisa.

It is an excellent place to stock up on snacks/drinks before you catch the train to your next exciting destination.

It is also a good place to have breakfast if you are heading off early.

It is clean, cheap and service is friendly.

Hungry while walking around Pisa? Most people get this desire for food after walking the walk at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. 294 steps up and then down, burns off more calories than you care to, and with all the wonderful aromas of Italian kitchens in full fury of food preparation, a stop at a Trattoria, that is also a Pizzeria, is the place to regain that sudden loss of caloric intake. The restaurant "LA BUCA" has not let me down. With a view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I sit indulging in pizza. How appropriate. Pizza in Pisa.

The pizza was special. Ten years ago , my wife and I ate pizza at LA BUCA, sitting in the outdoor patio while gazing up in amazement at the Campanile, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was a sight to behold and a feeling to remember. The beautiful architecture of the white marble arches rising above the patio umbrellas while ingesting a delicious pizza was a memory not to be forgotten. Many well prepared dishes are available with the gnocchi (potato drop dumplings) melting in your mouth. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Well, we returned to LA BUCA, in September, 05, to relive that special moment my wife and I had ten years ago. The restaurant was closing for the afternoon to prepare for the dinner hours, which was going to be too late for us to enjoy due to travel times. We explained to the staff our reason for being upset at not being able to enjoy the memory of ten years ago. With that, the manager, chef, and server all smiled at us and led us to the table area we sat in all those years ago. A delicious pizza was brought to our table to relive that simple but most memorable moment, having pizza in Pisa. To all the staff at La Buca, "Molto Grazie". If you chose to visit and enjoy the savory dishes of La Buca, please give a big Ciao from "travelgourmet" of Virtual Tourist.

This is the yummiest gelato shop in Pisa.

It was conveniently located right near our hotel and just across the road from the river.

It is always busy and is open late.

The gelato was so good, that when you come out of the shop you just stand on the street and eat it - can't walk or talk, must eat!!

Coffee and hazelnut gelato - delicious!

  • This is one of the best and most popular restaurants in Pisa, and is frequented by locals and tourists alike. They serve an excellent range of local dishes, and the menu changes every month so you will always taste something new. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable, $11 - $18 for main meals.
