Usualy, I skip my lunch in a hot summer days, especially if exploring around. In Pisa I made exception because it was cloudy and I made a break waiting for sun to get out of the clouds. It was big mistake. In this reastaurant (didn't catch the name), which is a foot from Piazza dei Miracoli, I ordered pizza "Quattro stagioni" and it was the worst pizza I ever had.
Favorite Dish: Not all Italian gelato is good or, it was just my bad day (had problems with both digital cameras). This gelateria, located right in front of the entrance into the Miracoli complex, offers ice-cream which is no good. Simply, it was not gelato am used to have in Italy.
It seems like I was very frustrated during my two days stay in Pisa, however, it wasn't so. The first evening I had very good dinner in a small restaurant nearby my hotel. Unfortunately, I left my cameras in a hotel room and didn't take any picture. The next day, like I said, had problem with my cameras and probably it frustrated me too much.

This is a great place to eat. Large restaurant (closed on wednesdays) with "famous" metre long Pizzas. You can order the Pizzas to take away too, however the box is rather large.
We ate pasta (huge portions) our sons had pizza we tried the Polpo (recommended by previous virtual tourist) and calamari. the polpo is wonderful but incredibly filling. the texture is like chicken with a slightly fishy edge. It is magnificent, cooked in a very rich sauce - my suggestion is to avoid a starter. The Pizzas were also highly recommended as was the local vino.
Favorite Dish: Polpo

Really excellent food and wonderful service. The waitress spoke really excellent English and translated the more challenging local names. We had a variety of excellent pasta followed by such diverse dishes as; veal, liver, vegeterian cauliflower mousse - all of which were uniformly excellent.
Favorite Dish: Pasta - great flavours whatever you order

From the outside Andrea's is not much to look at. It is on a main road out of Pisa between a supermarket and a Camper van showroom. There are tables outside under an awning and a menu pinned above the gates. It is only when you step inside that you are transported into a lovely Italian restaurant.
We were warmly greeted by the waiter, who soon surmised we were English and so took the opportunity to practise his English on us, leaving us no opportunity to use our little Italian except for a Ciao when leaving. He took great pains in explaining the menu to us, little knowing that a lot of the Italian dishes were called by the same names in England.
On our first visit we ordered Pizza, wine and water. We sat back withour drinks expecting to wait but 5 minutes later 2 perfect pizzas were placed in front of us. The house wine was fantastic leaving us with a warm glow after only one glass. The waiter checked everything was OK once or twice, but otherwise left us to enjoy our meal. The restaurant was full of Italians, we seemed to be the only tourists, always a good thing I feel.
We were very full after the Pizza but were eager to try dessert so we had one tiramisu with 2 spoons and washed it down with espresso.
On our next visit we were greeted in the same way and tried one of the set menus - fish ravioli, mixed fried seafood, chips, salad, wine, water and coffee, all for 16 euros....excellent value for an excellent meal. The chef in his open kitchen that was visible from the restaurant gestured to ask if we liked the food - I blew him a kiss!!
For an excellent, reasonably priced meal in a relaxed friendly atmosphere that is not at all touristy, we would recommend Andrea's.

La Tana is a friendly, cheap restaurant, filled with students and the occasional tourist.
Service was friendly, servings were big and food was pretty good.
The cheap house red wine wasn't bad either!!
Only complaint was that the toilets are horrible.
Favorite Dish: Delicious antipasto platter.
Pizza's were big with generous toppings.
