"Duomo" restaurant.: Enjoy your dinner looking into the Duomo.

The Duomo restaurant, situated opposite Piazza dei Miracoli in Via Roma, is just a stone's throw from the leaning tower. You can eat inside the restaurant or on the street Via Roma...Enjoy your dinner looking into the Duomo!
This is a typical italian restaurant confortable and cosy. It is not a Tuscany cuisine in fact the owner come from the south of Italy. There is a albanian waitress too. But owner and waitress are kind and nice.
The dishes look beautyfull and are quite good.
The price is proportional to the food quality.

Favorite Dish: At the beginning you should taste fresh octopus, very testy and soft, or mussels and clams. I suggest to try fish dishes in particular grill fishes (grill gilthead bream called "orata alla griglia") with grill potatoes.
Pizza is quite good, one of the best around the square.

Trattoria Pizzeria Bar Da Manfredo.: Trattoria Pizzeria Bar Da Manfredo

Da manfredo (Pisa)

I went to eat there because it was very close to Miracle Square. Unfortunately it was a bad choose. You can find all tuscany dishes but low quality. I ate the worst pizza i have tasted. Caprese (tomato and mozzarella cheese) was terrible beacuse of testless-economic mozzarella and insipid tomato. Cheap but low profile!
Italian people called this kind of restaurant "touristic restaurant" because of the low profile of foods and ingredients. Italian people didn't use to eat that insipid kind of pizza, pasta, mozzarella, tomato etc...
If you know italian language try to read the comments about "Da Manfredo" on this website:
http://www.anidride.it/locale/provalocale.php?code=38280X54445087962813Z282&citta=PISA&type=1&star=2

Favorite Dish: I was totaly unsatisfied but the price was quite cheap. The dishes are very small. I like spending more and eating better. Distrust restaurants with long name and they do not specify what they are (for exemple: Trattoria Pizzeria Bar Da Manfredo, because they often are a bad Bar, bad restaurant, bad pizzeria and bad trattoria).

Arno river..

La Bottega del Gelato sells really good gelato! When I was in Pisa, it was quite chilly that day..But I saw soo many people sitting or just hanging right at the centre of the open area enjoying their gelato..and so I though "Oh, it must be really good that people are still going for their gelato right at this weather.." - And I was totally right..it was soo yummy! =9....

As I'm a big fan of Indian food and I was lucky enough to stumble upon this Indian restaurant whilst walking along Via Roma towards the Leaning Tower, I thought right I'll come back here after I've finished my sightseeing. So, I went in and had a lovely meal of onion bahjee (sp?), chicken madras, rice and naan. Great stuff and nice to talk to waiters who speak good English! Highly recommend for curry lurvers....

This is the guy who owns the shop...

This place is amazing - the freshest cheese and bread, delicious rice balls stuffed with mozza and pork, and cooked spinach balls with garlic and olive oil. It's the best way to eat while travelling and it will save $$$!!

And like I have said before, go where you see lots of old ladies!

l’europeo: All food is good in Italy

We decided to start down via Santa Maria until we found a restaurant that took credit cards and that brought us to l’europeo in the first block. It was sunny and warm so we sat outside and had a lovely lunch except for the bread. Liguria uses salt in their bread; Tuscany does not. Pisa is in Tuscany, the home of flavorless bread.

We are not gourmets, just like good food. This was obviously for tourists but the food was good, the service was good, it was close to the Duomo and we had a great meal for a very reasonable price.

Favorite Dish: I had tagliatelle with mushrooms and it was delicious.

Osteria Dei Cavalieri: The best grilled calamari I have ever eaten!

This is a very popular local restaurant. Go early so you can get a space. One of the waiters had a little English and with our very little Italian we were able to order easily.

Favorite Dish: I had the best grilled calamari I have ever eaten at this restaurant. The calamari had a slight smokey flavor and were amazingly tender.

Le Scuderie: Popular Local Restaurant
swgf profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

swgf 9 reviews

It's always a good sign that when you leave the restaurant there are locals queuing down the street to get in!! Esp as it was COLD outside.

This is exactly what happened at Le Scuderie. The place was heaving and we were the only tourists in there, as far as we could tell. Another good sign.

We arrived shortly after 7pm and this was a good move as shortly afterwards the place was full, and full of parties of 6 or more, mainly.

There were waiters/waitresses darting everywhere, the owner was helping out as well as packing the takeaway pizzas and collecting the cash.

Favorite Dish: The metre long pizza's for 4 people they said....PAH!! Two of us nearly managed the whole thing!! A great time and a great meal.

Choose 3 different toppings and they'll put them on a metre long pizza and attach it to the end of your table for you to devour!

Fantastic.

La Tana: Good local restaurant
swgf profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

swgf 9 reviews

Typical local restaurant.

When we went, we were the only tourists in there (just the way we like it).

Staff were very friendly, as was the local guitar player who strolled around entertaining!

And as it's local, it's also cheap!

Two of us had starters and pizza (admittedly no wine) but total was 22 Euros.

Favorite Dish: Home-made pizza!! Able to watch the chef cook it from rolling the dough to adding the toppings to sticking it in the oven.

Perfect thin crust pizza. I had the fresh mozzarella and tomato pizza; my other half had the marinara (tomato and garlic) and they were both superb.
