This restaurant is close to the famous Piazza dei Miracoli and therefore, more or less the normal touristic restaurant. It was not bad but nothing special either. It's a good place to eat when you are staying around the Piazza.
You can sit outside on the sidewalk. There are many waiters and service is quick.
Favorite Dish: I had a typical Tuscan dish: Ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach. It was good but too 'dry' for me. I'd preferred a little bit more sauce.

We were recommended this restaurant by the Hotel Bologna - normally I would run a mile from any restaurant recommended by a hotel - especially when it is within crawling distance of the hotel itself - usually owned by the manager's brother/sister/uncle etc...!
HOWEVER in this case it really was a find - a nice outdoor terrace, intimate atmosphere and superb food.

In the streets near the Piazza dei Miracoli, where you can see (and visit) the mayor tourist highlights of Pisa, there are several food stalls.
That is a good option for those who do not want to spend much money on a meal, or for the ones with little time, which do no want to loose too much time by eating in a restaurant.
I also stopped at this snack bar and I ordered a sandwich with Proscuito crudo, hmmm delicious. Also when it is hot I am not very hungry, a sandwich is enough. I payed 3 euro for the sandwich.
Favorite Dish: Sandwich with proscuito crudo (and mozzarello)

Bar Fiume is located only a minute or two walk from the train station in Pisa.
It is an excellent place to stock up on snacks/drinks before you catch the train to your next exciting destination.
It is also a good place to have breakfast if you are heading off early.
It is clean, cheap and service is friendly.

il Baronetto is a small friendly restaurant serving up tasty pizzas and other dishes.
It was very busy the night we were there, and we ended up dining alfresco and sharing a table with a honeymooning British couple.
Service was friendly and fun.
Favorite Dish: We all had some excellent pizzas washed down with a jug of their best house red.
Delicious!

La Sapienza is a cafe/bar located in the heart of Pisa, not far from Piazza Girabaldi.
We stopped in here for a quick espresso and a croissant.
Favorite Dish: The coffee was excellent, and beacause we drank it standing at the counter, it only cost 80 cents.
What a bargain!!

The restaurant food is absolutely 'made in Italy' that means that you can choose from the menu, only dishes that composed the italian traditional cooking. The service is fast (they are use to have people that come and go during the whole day). You can look at the people walking while you are eating, tha't gives you always the chance to learn something new about human race!! lol But what is better then to eat and to have the Leaning tower in front of you?? Try this experience :-)
Favorite Dish: Personally I know very well Italian cooking (of course! I'm italian and I come from Tuscany, the best dishes of Italian tradition are from my district lol) so I recommend you to taste Pasta of course (with every kind of souces you want, but I prefere souces made with meet, called ragù and Pizza at every hour of the day!! If you want to eat a light dish, order an omelette, not tipical from Italy but they cook them in a gorgeous way!!!!!!

This is the yummiest gelato shop in Pisa.
It was conveniently located right near our hotel and just across the road from the river.
It is always busy and is open late.
The gelato was so good, that when you come out of the shop you just stand on the street and eat it - can't walk or talk, must eat!!
Favorite Dish: Coffee and hazelnut gelato - delicious!

We had beautiful italian pizza in Piccolo Mondo, I chose pizza with ruccola and prosciutto crudo on the top with cheese..
I swear it was so huge, didnt fit on the plate... the whole table was too small for two pizzas..:-)))
Favorite Dish: The pizza is thin, and very tasty.. Recommended dishes: Pizza vegetariana, insalata ortolana

it's by Piazza Cavalieri, near the University where I've been studying. This nice trattoria lays in a very traditional house from the 13th century.
Once u enter the restaurant, u'll feel like the time has stopped. There are typical recipes, with fish and meat but also vegetarian repices (i am vegetarian).
My fave dishes were: Passato di ceci con Pioppini, which is like a chickpea soup with pioppini mushroom.. delicious
Favorite Dish: then they have these Ravioli with goat cheese and some kind of cannellini beans, then they have the TAGLIATA CON BEANS, POTATOES AND PIOPPINI MUSHROOMS, Carpaccio di polpo bollito, filetto d'orata al forno con patate
and a lot of delicious desserts such as Semifreddo al croccante, and crostata di pere e cannella (some kind of pie with pears and cinnamon)
