This church sort of jumps out at you with its beauty and detail as you walk along Borgo Stretto.. Started by the Benedictines in the early 10th century this church embodies two architectural styles. The bottom half of the church has round arches and small windows characteristic of the Romanesque period. The upper half, on the other hand, has sharp arches and columns. Whatever styles they are it works beautifully.

This church was heavily damaged during World War 2. The frescoes inside of the church were completely destroyed. An interesting characteristic of this church it that the outside contains university election graffiti from students in the 15th and 16th century. The church was not open for public viewing when we were there.

San Michele in Borgo is very old church, erected in 990, with a beautiful marble facade of Romanesque-Pisan style while decorations of Gothic. The church, work of Guglielmo Agnelli, is probably built on the ruins of a pagan temple. The facade is completed with three Gothic portals and central niche with lunettes. The interior is very simple devided by imposing columns with various capitals. The most representing part is the 14th century marble Crucifix, work of Pisan school.

This church was founded in the 11th century and it has a beautiful façade with three portals. The majestic interior is divided into a nave and two aisles and contains a 13th-century fresco depicting Saint Michael the Archangel and a marble Crucifix by Pisano of the same period.
