Bus is caught right outside the train terminal (next to the information center). Look for the " i " which denotes visitor's information.
During Christmas and special holidays, the bus is free! Entire month of December through middle of January.
Bus runs every 20 minutes from train station to the entrance of the Pisa attractions (Baptistry and leaning tower).
Otherwise, the cost of transport is 0.50 Euros per person.

We arrived late into Pisa - after 10pm. There were no trains into Pisa Centrale. If you end up in this situation, you'll need to take the bus into 'town'. The bus stop is directly in front of the air port arrivals. Tickets were easy to get - just use the electronic ticket machine outside the bus stop. The 'ticket booth' was closed, so that wasn't an option.
All the info I had said that the bus would go to Pisa Centrale and would take about 10 minutes.
So, once we finally found the bus stop and got on, we ended up on a strange journey out to the Pisa residential areas. As you can imagine, this got us a bit worried. 20 minutes later we crossed the river then headed out into some other residential areas. I had a map of our hotel and showed the bus driver - he gestured to wait. The bus stopped outside our hotel and the bus driver motioned for us to get off there. This took about 30 minutes from the air port. Share and learn I guess.

If you wish to get from the Train Station or Airport to the Campo dei Miracoli, the bus is probably your best option. Tickets can be purchased from the bus stop, or Train Station, Airport or Tobacconist shops and are quite cheap.Buses to the Leaning Tower are number 1,3 and 11.

We caught the Lazzi bus at the Pisa Airport and took it to Lucca to start our Tuscan journey.
It is a good, cheap form of transportation between cities. The buses run frequently and the fare to Lucca was only 2.80 Euro.

I'll be honest. I don't ride the bus. I prefer to walk most of the time. But here is the website for the Pisa City bus called CPT for Compagnia Pisana Trasporti - http://www.cpt.pisa.it/index.htm.
There is also a site I built that covers all aspects of transportation for not only Pisa, but many other Italian cities. I started building it more for myself at first but then felt that it could be of benefit to others. Hope it's of help to you.

You will see in the photo I posted here the yellow coloured buses in the background just across the Pisa Centrale Train Station. As soon as we exited the train station, we just moved to the other side of the road. It is there where you have to board the bus in going to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. You will not miss the Bus Stop. There will be a lot of passengers waiting for the bus. It takes barely 10 minutes to reach the tower.
