At the end of a weeks stay in Tuscany, we had a hankering for pizza and headed into Radda in Chianti (our nearest town) for lunch. The only real pizza place we could find was Pizza Pie, so that is where we went (even though the name did put me off a bit!).
The restaurant was busy and unfortunately we couldn't get a table on the shaded terrace, but they did have room inside for us. We were happy enough though, especially as they had a decent high-chair for our little one.
Favorite Dish: We ordered a couple of large pizzas to share - the bases were nice and thin, toppings sparse in the usual Italian way, but flavours great. A glass of house wine helped wash it down, and then we were on our way for a wander around Radda and a swing in the park.

If you find yourself in Radda in Chianti and need a coffee, gelato, or even internet, then Bar Sandy is the place for you.
Located at one end of town, on the main road, it is worth a stop, and handy if you are going to the fab deli/grocery store across the road for supplies.
Favorite Dish: We popped in twice during a weeks holiday in the area - the first time for a coffee and gelato, and then a return visit for more gelato as it was so good! The chocolate gelato in particular was excellent - very creamy and rich. Coffee was ok too.

This is a really authentic local restaurant. The food is great and the prices are reasonable given the quality of the food.

Chianti is full of vineyards. Everywhere you drive you'll see them. What's great is that you can just pull over and check them out. Sometimes you can even just go to the winemaker, and ask for a...

Radda in Chianti is a well-preserved hill town. It was the closest (small) town to the villa we rented for a week in June 2010, so we visited there a couple of times.

Radda in Chianti and bright red Vespas

We drove into Radda looking for frescoes and found them . . . and a lot more. What a charming village. The views are fabulous; the people are incredibly friendly and the frescoes are excellent.
