La Cantinetta di Rignana: Garden Table Overlooking Vineyard

by myitalianhideaway

Looking for a lovely trattoria in Greve In Chianti that serves delicious grilled meats. Try La Cantinetta di Rignana and ask for a table in their garden which has gorgeous views of the vineyards. It's a moment to remember.Take Greve Rd E from Badia a Passignano, follow signs to Rignana from first major intersection.Buon appetito!

Puccini Ristorante di Gabriella Venitucci: An Evening To Rember in Lucca

by deecat

PLEASE CLICK THE PHOTOS!The clerk at Hotel Pucinni recommended the PUCCINI RISTORANTE while we were staying in Lucca for six days. What a Ristorante! The waiters wore tuxes, the walls were covered with beautiful contemporary art, sophisticated classical music played quietly, funky, low-lit lights illuminated the scene. The meal started with a complimentary glass of champagne and ended with sweet dinner wine.Everything about the Ristorante Pucinni said, "Class Act". The food was absolutely marvelous...everything from bean/fennel soup to rock lobster. I recall beautiful, fragrant coral colored roses on the table. While there, we met a couple from England who were very interesting. We ate and talked with them for over three hours. It was quite relaxing, pleasant, and one never felt rushed or pressured to leave. As my husband Allan said, "A Night to Remember!" My favorite dish was the Rock...

La Vecchio Mura in San Gimignano: Romantic Dinner for Two at...

by deecat

Please CLICK to see entire photographAll the locals in San Gimignano told us to eat at La Vecchio Mura. It was a beautiful night in April of 2001, and Allan and I took a leisurely walk from our hotel to the restaurant, meandering up and down narrow lanes made of cobblestone. We stopped and chatted with an elderly couple, taking a photo of them (which brought on huge smiles!)Once we reached the restaurant, they asked if we wanted to eat indoors or outdoors on the veranda. Of course, we chose the veranda. We were given a fantastic table (as the photo shows) right next to the iron railing...you can see that we were situated quite high up with fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside. It was truly romantic and beautiful with our wine and delicious Italian food...what more could we ask for? We had another leisurely meal as the sun set and the twinkling lights and stars left a glow...

Trattoria "La Grotta": Best Two-Hour Meal at...

Photographs:1. Allan enjoying his delicious dessert at Trattoria "La Grotta" in Cortona.2. Photo of the inside of Trattoria "La Grotta" in Cortona.3. Photo by Lamentini of Trattoria "La Grotta" in Piazzetta Baldelli in Cortona.4. Photo of darling family who ate next to us in the restaurant.Hidden in an indentation in Piazetta Baldelli in Cortona is the delightful Trattoria La Grotta. We arrived at seven in the evening and did not leave until shortly after nine! It was sublime. First of all, the Trattoria is quite popular with the locals and was recommended to us at our hotel. The walls are stone; the floor is tile; the ambience is warm and welcoming. A darling family sat beside us with three pretty daughters. They were Swedish and quite "taken" with the Italian food. So were we! What a meal we had! I can truthfully say that I had the BEST Bruschetta ever. My pasta (Taglittarre and...

Ristorante Il Cerro: Restaurant at Hotel Il Cigno, Northern Tuscany

by sue_stone

Ristorante Il Cerro is the restaurant at Hotel Il Cigno (see hotel tip for more info). We stayed at the Hotel for one night and seeing as it is in the middle of nowhere, we wisely chose to done at the restaurant.Il Cerro has a very cosy feel, with its rustic décor and large circular fire place in the middle of the room (not actually lit when we were there). The restaurant had a decent smattering of diners, who were presumably all guests at the Hotel. We were eagerly anticipating a great meal, as I had read some good review about the food and we looked forward to our first meal in Tuscany on our Sep 2006 trip. Our spirits were dampened a little unfortunately by our surly waiter who seemed incredibly bored and acted as if the last he wanted to do was to take our order. Sigh. Anyway, the food was thankfully good. To start, Alex had a type of Ravioli with Wild Boar sauce. For main course he...

La SOLINA: The best ever!

by sikorka

We stopped at this restaurant while coming back form the Terme di Saturnia. The location is just close to the road, but at the back there is a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy the meal.Whatever you will order it will be homemade. My favorite;Tagliate con cingiale for the first dish andMOUSSE DI ROCOTTA for a dessert - it was wonderful I tried even to do one at home after we came back but it wasn't the same :(

Gelateria "Snoopy": Gelato in Cortona

by rubbersoul75

In Piazza Signorelli, across from the Museo Dell'Accademia Etrusca, you'll find this small gelateria. Very simple, but serving some of the best Gelato around. With 2 little kids, you can undestand why we often find ourselves at gelato stands.Staff was quite friendly as well here.

Gelateria di "Piazza": best Gelateria in Tuscany? - San Gimignano

by rubbersoul75

In the Piazza Della Cisterna- this place is touted as the best Gelato in Tuscany by a number of books. Though I can't confirm this, having yet to visit all the other Tuscan Gelaterias, it is a must taste when in the town. The owner Sergio used to win the Best Gelato in Italy award so frequently that he stopped competing. On the wall you'll find photos and articles about some of the famous folks who have stopped in here. This list includes a few world leaders. A great varierty of flavors, including some unique ones like saffron flavored and Vernaccia (The local white wine).

La Tellina: Cucina Sienese

by croisbeauty

Speaking local language might be of great help, especially when in restaurants. Trust me, I know it by experience, it is big difference ordering food in Italian or other language. It is of particular importance when eating in local trattorias or osterias, which usually offers excellent local cuisine."La Tellina" is typical Sienese trattoria with great food and very relaxed atmosphere. I never ever ask for menu when in trattoria, the best is to follow advice given by the weiters. My first dish, suggested by the weiter, was excellent vegetables soup which I needed alot after spending couple of days on the road trip. The second dish was a kind of boiled meat in a sauce, and it was just delicious. For drink I had half a litre of local red wine which was of superior quality. My lunch cost me 15,00 euros only.
