Shopping and waiting
As I mentioned previously, San Gimignano is a touristy destination within Tuscany. This means that you should be prepared to wait for some time before you are able to visit the main tourist attractions of the medieval village (if visiting in peak season).
Also, I found the shops a bit of a tourist trap; maybe if you search carefully you will find nice shops but most of the shops situated on the main “routes” seem to be aimed at exploiting the tourists.
Way to many tourists
Please choose a weekday for visiting this little town. It is very small and in the weekend ddozens of busses stop by to admire the buildings and walk around....
The picture was taken on a quit day..
It is forbidden to drive into the town center , only for residents. If it is very crowded you can see the parking near the center is full and the cars and busses are parked on the ways towards the town.
Unique Suggestions: Go early - on a weekday if possible
In the evening the little city gets something magical as well. All the tourists are gone and you can have a romantic walk around..
I made the intro pic from where I parked. The building you see in the distance belong to S. Gimignano. This may give you an idea of how difficult is parking there.
This is due to a number of reasons:
1) the village is small
2) it is on top of a hill
3) it is CROWDED OF TOURISTS!!!
Unique Suggestions: So, my suggestion is: if you go there in may (the best time in the year), go there early in the afternoon, so that you can park at a reasonable distance and then have time to enjoy the village and the sunset.
drugstore who sell wine and "cantuccini"
a lot of little stores sell one or two or three bottles of local wine . The most famous it's "Vernaccia of San Gimignano" . I think this great wine it's a very great experience only in local. I think the transportation of this product damage it's taste
Unique Suggestions: buy this wine in a wine store in your own city!!
Fun Alternatives: drink it, but don't drive!!!
The parking lot at the very top
If you can stand to walk uphill for 5 minutes do not park in the parking lot right by the walls. It is very expensive, I believe that it was over 10 euros for a couple of hours. If you drive a little further there are two more parking lots, one on the opposite side of town (around 5 euros for 24 hours) and another one a bit out of town with a free shuttle service.
Bathrooms in San Gimignano
Before heading uphill to the historic San Gimignano village, make sure to use the bathroom and empty your bladder first! Except at the museum, I didn't see any bathrooms at all.
The bathrooms at the parking lot are very clean. You have to pay %.50 Euros before using it. Just drop it in the collection box. There are no hot water here so during the winter time, the water is freezing cold!

Watch out buying film here, it...
Watch out buying film here, it is expensive and the chance that it's too old or has been laying in the sun all day (this bleaches the colours) is big.
