The best way to get to Siena from Florence is by bus. Sita buses go there regularly from a terminal near the train station. The trip generally takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Fare is inexpensive.

There is no direct train to/from Rome you have to change at Chiusi. All in all it takes nearly 3 hours. Florence is just an hour away.

Don't even think about bringing a car into Siena, it's much to small and a car is pretty unnecessary. Rent a moped to get out of the city and see the beautiful Tuscan hills, you won't regret it.

Driving inside the old part of town is only possible with these small Vespas, as you see them in many places...

Cars are not allowed in the city center...... so you have to use your feet..... All main tourist attractions are nearby. It´s a bit hilly in town :)

Those little cars are so funny looking but they're so much fun to ride. You can rent them to drive youself around Siena and the surrounding towns.
