Castiglione del Lago Off The Beaten Path

The Italian countryside offers a plethora of small hillside towns just waiting to be discovered by tourists. The food is great, the people are friendly and helpful (even if you don't speak Italian), and the living is easy. One word of caution: stay of your side of the road. The small two-lane roads leading to and from these small towns are narrow at best and often have hair-pin blind curves.

Speed is not the problem-you'll need nerves of steel to drive like you belong there. BTW, I'd go back in a heartbeat.
