There are more then ten thousands of students in Perugia, coming here to study Italian language. Real cosmopolitan enviroment here.
This beautiful and always smiling girl comes from Cuba, earning some extra money as a contemporarily waiteres in the cafe-bar on the main sqaure of the town.
Oh, we just couldn't stop ordering our drinks again and again...., would you stop if on my place?
She is so sweet when smiling.

What a pleasent surprise right in front of the Tempio di San Angelo. One of the most significant monument of the medieval Perugia and this beautiful nowadays girls..., what a combination!
The Temple is pretty far from the town centre, especially if the hot summer day, but I was rewarded properly.

My first Saturday morning esspreso after long jazzy&wine night was just delicious. Then I saw here seating on the table next to mine, she was so young, fresh looking and very beautiful. I just couldn't resist not to take the picture, and when I told here what is the purpose of it, she agreed about. I didn't ask for name but it is not important, she can be Beatrice, Gulietta or Laura, all in one pearson only. Well, my Saturday in Perugia has started so nice.

Not just in Perugia...many (perhaps most) Italian museums are closed on Mondays. This can be a spirit-killer if you're only in a city or town for a single day and the museums are unavailable, which is why the Spirit moves me to suggest that much of Italy's great art is found in its churches, virtually all of which are open every day of the week (and are generally free, to boot). So find your Caravaggios and della Robbias in the local duomo, and soak in the notion that people have been hallowing with their prayers the place where they are situated for many hundreds of years.

I cannot say or emphasize it enough if you are going to Italy please please PLEASE learn at least enough of the language to communicate! I studied for 6 months before our trip so I was not fluent but it made for a wonderful experience to be able to communicate. Some of the worst behavior I have ever seen was from frustrated American tourists who fully arrogantly expected the Italians to speak flawless English while they themselves did not bother to learn a word of Italian. I have found that if you show the respect of at least trying to speak the language, no matter how badly mangled you will receive a warmer reception than those red in the face who think that yelling is going to get their point across. Remember we're visiting their country, why not learn a little bit before you go? That said, in the cities English is more prevalent but where we liked to eat in the family run trattorias the only English you would hear was, "No speak English!"

If you love Chocolate, Perugia in October is the place to be. Streets filled with stands selling chocolate of all kinds, tearooms with 100 different kinds of hot chocolate and chocolate cakes and pastries. But best of all is the chocolate sculpting competition. 3 huge 1m cubes of chocolate, and artists who hack at them with various instruments, throwing the cast-offs to the waiting crowd, and then producing marvels - Pinocchio, the Little Mermaid, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum!

What Italian town doesn't have a cat?
And how is it that they never fall off window sills?
I'm including this picture because my hubby adores cats so much. This picture was taken from the aqueduct in Perugia.

In Christian communities around the world, the 40 days preceding Easter is known as Lent, which is a period of fasting and penitence.
Mardi Gras and Lent are a time for celebration and rememberance for Christians around the world.
