Brasserie Siride: Traditional cuisine

by ludogatto

the place is very warm, it's a traditional wooden house, new but very warm, located not on the min road, but easy to get it. In summer there is a nice green park surround. You can find traditional dishes like fonduta alla valdostana ( a fondue made with local cheese), but they offer you new 'traditional' dishes, like gnocchetti or some good meat plate.Try their sweets.you can end the meal witha caffè alla valdostana ( hot coffe with liquor) or genepy ( local liquor made with hig mountain herbs)Closed Thusday

Café Relais de l’Ange: Courmayeur - The world's thickest hot chocolate

by firechick

A great spot to take a break from shopping or to have a light breakfast or a small sweet in the afternoon. The tables and chairs are beautiful, and the interior is sculpted wood with an Austrian chalet influence. The coffee here is good, but the hot chocolate ... I have never had such a thick hot chocolate. You have to eat it with a spoon! And yet it is not sicky sweet - just lovely.

Cafe Roma (Bar Roma): The place to be for Apres Ski in Courmayeur

by firechick

Bar Roma is great. The drinks are very expensive, but don't go there just for a drink! At around 6:00pm they lay out the most amazing spread of anti pasta and pasta snacks ( the majority of which are vegetarian) and you can basically have your dinner here for 'free' by buying one drink and grazing. The drinks are poured nicely, and of course the food is salty so you might have to have two ... but what a great place to spend the early evening in. Couches and antique furniture is all over, the walls are of old stone and wood, and the music is at a volume that still allows talking.

Ristorante: Restaurant in Aosta

by Aurorae

Now this is not going to be extremely helpful... This place is very lovely, genuine and simple, but so nice and with domestic atmosphere. It's on the exit from the town of Aosta, but I forgot its name and address, so until I visit next time, this will have to do.It has a cheerful atmosphere enhanced by colourful curtains.Menu is delicious, typical Italian. I'd go for gnocchi alla gorgonzola again!Pizza is served only dinnertime.Prices are very decent!

C'adran Solaire Restaurant & Bar: Lovely, lovely place

by sierralyndon

This has got to be one of the loveliest places to have lunch. You can choose the outdoor seating on a nice day, but definitely have a look at the inside. It looks like an old-fashioned mountain lodge, all woody, with great ornaments and a fire place. You feel like you're sitting in someone's home. The food served is typical of the region. Very, very good. When we were there last, we ordered a dish of cold meats (salami, prosciutti, etc.) and cheese. Very nice. Then I had a fantastic risotto with asparagus while the others had rabbit (which I am totally against, because I think they're too cute to die as food...) and some wild game. The dessert selection is FABULOUS! Make sure you have some. Order the housewine (even in 1/4 or 1/2 litre caraffes).

La Palud: La Palud

by Aurorae

La Palud is the small place under Mont Blanc where the cable to Mont Blanc and further to Chamonix in France starts. There, almost by the road, on the way to the cable, there is this lovely restaurant and pizzeria, with nice interior (mountain style again) and the food is very delicious!! THey prepare it in the home made way, and you get it served in a very special way, with full attention. There is a wonderful view at Mont Blanc from the restaurant. The place was FULL when we were there, although it was a dead season, and people were waiting i the queue for the table! It is definitelly a great place!

Cavallo Bianco: Cavallo Bianco (White Horse)

by Aurorae

Cavallo Bianco is a very cozy and domastic atmosphere café in the very heart of Aosta town, in one of the passages aside. It's a typical Italian "pub" with snacks and sweets at the counter, quick coffee and newspapers, but with tables and TV (favourite place for gatherings on Sundays to watch calcio :))) TEA! They serve a GREAT variety of delicious teas, about 100 kinds! (see local customs)

Le Vieux Grenier: Le Vieux Grenier

by Aurorae

This is a FANTASTIC restaurant in breuil-Cervinia, just beneath the Matterhorn. There is a fantastic view from the restaurant. Interior is very nicely decorated in ethno style, mountaineous of course, everything in wood and nicely decorated with local crafts, like the famous cow bells. The service is excellent, the only trouble is that it's a bit more expensive... (see local customs)

Pasticceria Dupont in Villeneuve: Villeneuve - Pasticceria with good coffees

by firechick

This was a nice place to have a coffee and cake. The prices of the expresso were so cheap compared to bigger towns such as Aosta - and it was very good. I think my husband had too many however - three!? He was bouncing off the walls...

Le Samovar: Le Samovar

by Aurorae

This is a very cute café & pastry shop, just in the beginning of the main street in Breuil-Cervinia. The interior is very warm and made in wood, with a lot of flowers. The music is great!
