Are you a grappa lover? Maybe you have never experienced the taste of rocket fuel sliding down and burning your throat. Visiting Bassano is your chance to find out all about grappa, the way it is made, the different tastes and the way it is bottled. I recommend visiting a nice museum and tasting shop run by the poli grappa makers. This business was...more
This lovely old wooden covered bridge of Bassano is such a highlight to the already picturesque old town that sprawls up the river banks. There are plaques on the bridge giving various bits of information but there are lovely views from the bridge along the river banks with the interesting buildings that are there and up the river to the mountains...more
Driving into town theres not a lot of parking to be found close by - from the modern bridge I could see the old wooden bridge and the old town on the river banks further along the river so parked where I found parking across the road from the Tetley Pub and near the interesting looking big old church and headed off. Both sides of the river have...more
This is an absolute must when you are in Bassano. It is the hallmark of the town and worth every step to get there. The views from the bridge are wonderful but if you want the typical postcard shot you will need to head south to the new bridge that crosses the Brenta on Viale Diaz from Piazzale Cadorna.more

Very elegant place, discotheque+restaurant and you can have pizza too.
Elegant people, a lot of charm. If you want a nobil day with joy come here. Good music, good orchestra-band, 3 dancing rooms.
In case you're arriving by car to Bassano del Grappa, the most convinient place to park you vechicle is around Piazzale Cadorna. Right next to the Tempio Ossario there is an ample parking place from where you have less then five minutes walking distance to reach the Piazza Liberta and all major sights of the town.
The owner is a real craftsman, in fact, he is so good that the movie Harry Potter used his lamps and he will tell you all about it and show you the newpaper article to prove it. He is a fantastic metalworker and has lamps hanging all over for sale. They are not expensive! There are more things in his shop, metal toys, moving toys like carousels,...more

At the entrance to the bridge is the ceramics shop called le Ceramiche. This shop features ceramics made in Bassano and the area surrounding. The prices are reasonable.See fotos. Do not expect Tuscan and southern Italy designs. Every area has its own style. 15 euros for a big bowl, less for plates.more
My grandfather was a great Alpines. He suffered a lot things of war, he saw many cruel things, he won death many times, he saved a lot of people, but not his brother, whom desperately took on his shoulder from Albania to Italy, but he died during the travel in Istria....Shame to Italy which doesn't have gratitude to this army. here one of the songs...more
I have always heard that aged Basalmic Vinegar was very expensive and not to be found in just any old place. Well here is a picture to prove that it can be very expensive - keep in mind that this was a small bottle of it.
Found in a store just to the west of the Ponte Vecchio.

Then for the afternoon i recommend going to the ultralight airstrip or to the mountian for a flight over this beautiful area. Tempio Ossario is situated on the outskirts of the historic centre, on so-called Piazzale Cadorna. It is projected at the beginning of the nineteenth century as the new cathedral, but after the Great War became a war memorial devoted to Ossuary for the fallen on the Grappa battlefields. Now it shelters the remains of over 5400 fallen.more
The church of San Giovanni Battista with its outstanding facade dominates Piazza Liberta. Originally the church was built in the fourteenth century, restored and enlarged around mid-18th century, when the neo-Classical facade was added. Attached to the church the chapel of SS.Sacramento is in Rococo style (1697) by G.B. Piazzetta.more
