    Balloon Festival

by painterdave Written Sep 23, 2012

Every September there is a nice hot air balloon festival held from a Thursday to Sunday. Each day in the morning at least 8 or more balloons rise and flow by the wind across the valley just in front of the hills called colli eugeanei. Usually these balloons fly just over my home or to the farm next to it.
From the photos you can get a feel for the action at the festival. The best part is free entrance. Second best for newbies...is a ride for ten minutes up and back. The balloons are tethered by a rope and the charge is only 5 euros.
There are booths and food, too. Lots of people attend and parking can be a frustration, but with patience if you come after it opens you will find a place, also free.
After dark they send up some balloons on tethers, and have a light show with music.
This year we saw parasailers with fans, complete with acrobatics and a colored smoke show.

Montegrotto is the perfect place in order to make many excursions. It is not a lot far away from city of art like Venice Padova and Verona, but there are many architectonic jewels also in close territory. Many of these palces can be reached with pleasant bicycle tours.

To have more info try this web site( the italian versionis perfect, I had some difficulties in the englich version)

    Wine and flawor streets

Another way to know this country is to follov the wine stree. The people of this regin love wines, can live without a bottle onthe table,
the landscape is characterized from hills of tidy vineyards
Wine production is a living art and the wines are perfect thank to the the natural features of the vineyards and the area’s favourable climate.
The superior wine production in the Euganean Hills has obtained D.O.C. “Colli Euganei” (Controlled Origin Denomination - a italian certification) which guarantees the origin, tradition and quality.of its cellars.
There are 13 wines with the “Colli Euganei” denomination: the White, with its typical straw-yellow colour and jasmine scent, the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon reds, the elegant Chardonnay, the Fior d’Arancio, the super sweet yellow Moscato, the Merlot, the pleasantly fresh and lively Novello, the dry Pinello, White Pinot, Red Wine, the sparkling Serprino and the Tocai Italico.

Try this win with the plate of the local tradition, from the stockfish alla Vicentina, sards with onion, Veronese pasticiada to the pumpkin risotto, sausages and “luganeghe” (local sausages) with polenta, “bigoli in salsa” (large, hand-made spaghetti) , fowl alla Padovana.....
this is another way to visit a country, but for my is one of the best.
Remember that in Italy to is forbidden to drive drunked,so a bottle for two is enough!
