Rocky sculpture by Kajron These hills are very nice to visit, expecially in the winter, they are still wild, even if there are all villas around and historical place. Between these hills there is the Lake of Fimon with particular fishes. Around the hills there are good Trattoria and restaurants with local foods, take a taste to "Baccalà alla Vicentina", it's a fish plate, very good and original. There are museums of sculpture of rocks and a typical tthing here is the colour of the earth,it is RED! These hills are high between 200metres and 500metres, they are twenty minutes from Vicenza and 40 by Padova, by car. Leave a Comment

by Kajron This the park of the province of Padova. The highest hill is moreless600metres (Monte della Madonna). Half Monte della Madonna, there is the village Teolo, famous for his "festa dei villeggianti"="feast of tourists" in summer, they play orchestral music during the night and a lot of culture and culinary manifestation. Beyond the hill of Monte della Madonna, there is the village Rovolon, famous for its "festa della Birra"-"Feast of the Beer", come here you can drink good beers, eat local foods and see the selections of Miss Italia! The feast start in july. In these hills there are many beautiful villages as Arquà Petrarca, where lived the famous poet Petrarca. Nice towns are also Monselice and Este, famous historically and for art. Famous is also the wine of Colli Euganei. Here there is a big golf-club(Frassanelle) and there are also many marathons. If you pass along the little town of Adria (Rovigo province, south of Chioggia) you notice only a country town. Similar to many other. Wrong! It has a very ancient history. And the name should warn you. Yes, it gave the name to a whole sea... The Adriatic! But, you can say... how? The Adriatic is at least 10 kms far? Right.... Now... But all the lime of the river Po has moved the shore eastward a lot in 2500 years. Adria was one of the main ports during the golden greek age, around 5/6th century before Christ. And it was Etruscan and Roman. Read more on Adria's wikipedia page No surprise the territories of Adria were and are a gold mine for archeologist, and this little town has a quite big and interesting museum, a "National Archeological Museum", in fact. This, alone, may be worth a visit. It is well explained (unfortunately, only in italian). By now, the roman section is closed, but should be open by the end of 2008 The museum is open every day (Xmas, Jan 1st and may 1st - labour day excepted ) Leave a Comment
