 | Padova Restaurants | Tips 11 - 20 of 53 | | I chose this outside cafe as it was opposite the Square where a free concert was about to take place. There were quite a few cafes here, with their tables closely packed together. Each place was equally busy, so I just sat where I found an empty table. It was a nice location opposite the Baptistery of Duomo, with a lively friendly atmosphere. A good 'people watching' place. The menu had a wide selection of drinks including Aperitifs. A lot of my fellow diners were drinking brightly coloured long drinks, which I'd seen being drunk in Venice, and which I was uncertain as to what they were. I've since learned that Aperol is the bright orange aperitif which is mixed with white wine or soda and/ or prosecco to make a spritz, and Crodino is a non-alcoholic version. Since this trip, I've become a big fan of Aperol Spritz whenever visiting the Veneto region! Years ago when I was 18 and on my first Italian holiday to Lake Como, my friends and I thought that Campari and Soda was a sophisticated 'grown up drink' and promptly ordered a glass each to sip while we lounged at the lido. Yeukk!!!! I didn't like it at all. Since then over the years my taste has changed and I no longer like sweet drinks, preferring a pint of Guiness or Bitter or a dry wine. So I thought I'd give it another try. Well - I still don't like Campari and Soda! I finished my glass, but probably wouldn't try another -I was a bit disappointed that I didn't like it.
I enjoyed my sandwich - a Panino Bresaola which cost 4 euros. Bresaola is salted and air dried beef, which is a speciality of the Lombardy area of Northern Italy. I know that I enjoyed it, but I can't remember what else was in the panino. I think it was accompanied with some potato crisps. My Campari and Soda was 3 euros Leave a Comment Theme: ItalianPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Pzza Duoma, 1 PadovaPhone: 049 657781Directions: From Pzza Erbe, with Palazzo d Ragione on Your R. Very cosy restaurant, built inside a old farm, the dining room is in two different floors and there is also a outdoor part used during summer. The menu change according with the seasons and consist in a wide selection of local and international food. Closed on Monday, during week end it can be quite busy so it would be better to make a reservation.

It is very busy and large inside. You should note that a lot of locals were eating here, mostly for the good food, decent prices and fast service. What else do you need.

Casa del Pellegrino is a 2-star hotel with restaurant lying opposite the Basilica di Sant'Antonio. I often eat at this restaurant when I go to Padova and I like it. It is not expensive at all and the waiters are extremely polite and the service is excellent. You can certainly have lunch for 20 euro or less. However, if you are a group of many people, you will need to book a table, since it is a popular restaurant, with many pilgrims eating there.
Since they host people (mostly pilgrims) from many countries, they offer standard meals and no real "specialty". However, I have always found everything very good. You can start with tortellini or pasta with tomato sauce, then have meat (pork, turkey, beef...) with vegetables, potatoes..., and end with a good gelato, a cake or fruit. A tourist menu for 14 euro is available: it includes pasta with tomato sauce, meat with chips, a small cup of gelato, 1/2 litre mineral water and coffee. Leave a Comment

Brek is self-service all'italiana, a homegrown northern Italian chain of upscale cafeterias that make concessions to the time-pressed modern world without sacrificing old-world quality. Put your language problems and calorie-counting aside as you help yourself to pastas that are made up fresh while you wait and topped with the sauce of your choice. There's a counter just for omelets made express, another for entrees and pizza. The dessert cart groans under an array of cheeses, fresh fruits, fruit salads, and fruit-topped tarts and cobblers. Join the thoroughly local eat-on-the-run lunch crowd from the university and surrounding shops, and save your day's budget for dinner. Caffe Pedrocchi is one of the 'must sees' of Padova. Its upstairs rooms are a museum, whilst downstairs is an elegant place to enjoy a coffee or a cold drink and a snack. I had intended to visit this coffee house on my second day in Padova, but as I was getting my bearings on my first day I stopped for a drink at a smart looking place not realising until I'd placed my order that I was in the legendary Caffe Pedrocchi. From photos that I'd seen and descriptions, I was expecting a large 'hall' with dark wood walls, blue paint and Egyptian iconography. I was sat at a round marble table on a small terrace looking onto the street and a large building with plaques and engravings. There were lots of lively students around this area. I ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice, which was delicious. The next day, I returned and sat on a different terrace. I ordered one of the cafes specialities - a coffee served with mint - unusual, but quite pleasant To be continued...... I was brought here by a local a few years back and make it a point to visit every time. I am told they have good sandwiches and have tried a few other things and liked them, but the star of the restaurant, for a chocolate fan, is the Sette Veli.
The Sette Veli, which is composed of 7 kinds of chocolate, loosely can be fit into the chocolate mousse category. Light enough to not be too overwhelming, though I admit my chocolate threshold is probably higher than most. The best dessert I've ever had!

Nothing special, small - about 10 tables or so-, but the food is excelent. I specially recommend to ask for the "leftovers" :) which are actually not leftovers, but more like a spanish-style tapeo: a bit of whatever they have in the kitchen, served in small dishes.
