Santa Lucia di Piave Things to Do

  • Even had hunting Falcons

We waited for a bit for the demonstration, but no such luck. Apparently Falcons were used a great deal in those days.

  • Not a bad wine...

The lady seen in the photo amazed me. As we spoke to her, she replied in English, with a very English accent. Apparently she lived in London for 'ONE' year, and picked up another language. Makes me feel somewhat of a slug...I filled my backpack. I'll find out shortly what it tastes like.

  • Roasting a pig...

This hog was approximately 75 kilos in weight. The cook estimates that it will take approximately 10-11 hours before cooking is complete. They build a circle about the pig with metal sheeting, and top it off with a v-shaped metal roof. A fire is built up around the inside of the metal sheeting, and wood is added as more heat is required. Radiant...

  • Tease the guards...

Only in Italy would you find a festival closing down over lunch so the various attendees could eat their midday meal. This festival is no different, in fact they use armed guards to protect booths vulnerable to theft.

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is the food booth at the festival. They served the 'best' Pork Sausages in a bun that I have ever eaten. Absolutely perfect, wonderful, very flavourful, and excellent fresh baked buns.

Of course, all conversation was in Italian, but the guide was satisfied with my occasional grin and nod, and was pleased that I was taking photos to share with VT readers.I wish I could discuss, with any small degree of knowledge, the various parts of...

  • Visit the local church...

We were pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful church in Santa Lucia di Piave. We were even more pleased to find someone who would take the time to show us around the church, from top, to bottom.Ma Kettle has viewed practically every church in every town we have visited while in Italy. Of course, that means I have too, after I ran out of...
