Some of the boat excursions are only one way, and only on certain days go from either Padova, or Venizia. They take a lot more time for a full day trip and lunch. Cost is 65 Euro, plus entry fees to the villas they stop at. Enjoy.

SR 11 is the main road along the Brenta river. I noted that many tourists stood out in the road to get a better long range picture of a villa. The vehicles come by at a pace of 70-100 kilometers. So beware of the traffic flow if you want to take more pictures during your lifetime.

don't underestimate this place! THIS IS NOT OFF THE BEATEN PATH! even though it's not as 'bad' as Venice it's still very famous and it can be crowded with busfuls of tourists (and school groups in spring) ...
I went at five and the big groups were all leaving then. it was very pleasant and you still get to visit the museum till 7 and the park till 8 which is plenty of time when you're on your own...

as of May 2003 most of the back facade and courtyards were covered for restauration... call before you go to make sure what you'll find! Italians take ages to finish a job like this one ...
