If you are driving along the eastern shore of the Lake (Verona province) you will stumble into the signs of "PAI".
Really nothing special, a few houses, a bus and waterbus stop, and the usual beaches.
But take a few minutes, and leave the main road to go to Pai di Sopra (the upper Pai)... it's less than 1 KM, and the road to go up is in the direction of Torri.
The village is little and charming, just a restaurant, a pizzeria and a bar around a little square, a church with a breathtaking view of the lake.
A few meters before the square, look down a little valley (just in front of the "capitello" in picture #4): there is still a pool used by the women of the village to wash the clothes till not so many years ago (you can speculate on the fact that i actually remember them very well).
Of course now they use the washing machines, but the pool, in heavy pink Verona marble, is still there and working (see pic #5).
The little church of Pai, dedicated to St. Mark (Venetian heritage, you can bet) has a balcony with one of the best views on the lake... From Sirmione to Riva del Garda, you can see the whole west shore of the lake from this spot... And at the right time enjoy the sun setting behind the mountains of the Brescia's side of the lake.
