Since I was in hurry to visit Malcesine, I stoped only about two hours in Torri del Benaco. Besides, I was here round noon, too early to have a lunch.
Favorite Dish: Nevertheless, I am always looking for the new restaurants, especially those known for its good cuisine. Some locals told me, this on the picture is the best restaurant in Torri del Benaco and its surroundings. During my next Garda tour, very soon, I'll stop here to taste the food.

Shopping at late night
Helpfulness
effeti 191 reviews
You have to know that at least during all the touristic season, most of the shops are open every day (sundays included) and till up to 11Pm.
Many friends of mine (expecially from the north) could hardly believe it.
But during the day it's too hot to shop, and people goes to the beaches/lake. So there is always the chance of shopping after dinner, when there isn't a burning sun on your head.

Sardellata del Pal del Vo
Helpfulness
effeti 191 reviews
This is a very funny annual tradition.
In front of Garda, and not far from Torri, there is a spot of shallow waters, signaled by a striped pole emerging from the water.... The "Pal del Vo'".
Well, it is a tradition that fishermen go there in a night to fish sardines (the sweet water ones) then to deep-fry them on the spot and on the boat, and offer them to every boat that goes there. It's a sort of off-shore night "sardine party" in the middle of the lake.
The boat party is held ont the full moon night of late june/july .....:around 100 boats decorated and illuminated met there in the 2005 "sardellata".
When the meeting is over, every boat approches the shore to better see a firework show...
There are stands, music and food on the shore in Garda (the town), too. But the best is on the water, of course!

Heavy traffic on sundays
Helpfulness
effeti 191 reviews
Be careful if you plan to travel on Sunday from march to august... You will very likely find traffic jams from 9 to 12 am (in the directions of the lake) and from 3pm to 8pm (and up) on the way back to Verona.
A few alternative roads are available, but very hard to find (and impossible to explain). Well, in fact, maybe it's my unsaid will to keep as many as possible far from those hidden roads.... ;-)
This problem may increase dramatically on may, 1st (labour day) and the monday following Easter sunday, cause these are traditional days for day trips of every italian..
A boat trip makes obviuosly more sense on one on those crowded days..

If you are driving along the eastern shore of the Lake (Verona province) you will stumble into the signs of "PAI".Really nothing special, a few houses, a bus and waterbus stop, and the usual beaches. But take a few minutes, and leave the main road to go to Pai di Sopra (the...
Pai di Sopra: the view from the church

The little church of Pai, dedicated to St. Mark (Venetian heritage, you can bet) has a balcony with one of the best views on the lake... From Sirmione to Riva del Garda, you can see the whole west shore of the lake from this spot... And at the right time enjoy the sun...

Sunset from the "veronese" coast of the lake
