Piazza San Marco & Basilica San Marco, Venice
Favorite thing: At least once approach Venice from the water side and feel the exitement when more and more details appear clearer and clearer out of the mist.
Venice is a beautiful town.
With all the canals, Venice has a somewhat different charme.
Fondest memory: photo : reflection of the Basilica of Saint Marc
Feed the Pigeons in St. Marks.
Corny I know, but every one is doing it and it is quite fun. There are stands there selling pigeon food, but they'll eat just about anything!
Favorite thing: While touring the Basilica, be sure to see the Gilded Bronze Horses on the Loggia dei Cavalli above the principle entrance of the Basilica di San Marco.
Fondest memory: Enjoying the view of the Grand Canal and the Piazzetta from the Loggia dei Cavalli of the Basilica di San Marco.
Fondest memory: Basilica di San Marco in June is packed with throngs of tourists. It is best not to come during the peak seasons if you do not desire to be squashed.
Fondest memory: You must go inside, the church is wonderful, just seeing all the mosaic pictures close up on the outside was fantastic. Such magnifcent detail
I just think it's great having no roads, but just canals - surreal or what?
By the way, some people say it smells - I didn't find that, and I went on a hot and hazy day.
Here is a nice place to feed the pigeons and take a good picture with them too.
Fondest memory: Imagine you have tea or beer sitting somewhere!!
