Al Vecio Bragosso.: Our first choice in Venice.
In 2006 we had 3 dinners here with an excellent ratio quality/ service/ price. (Ref my previous comment).
We came back after 4 years and found that things were even better than in our memories. The choice of sea food has been extended and prices are still very reasonable. Of course Cannaregio is not the touristic district of Venice but the location of Al Vecio Bragosso on Strada Nova between the Ca' d'Oro and Campo SS Apostoli (not far from the Rialto) is more and more popular.
This is one of the few restaurants in Venice where you can simply follow the recommendations of the waiters without getting scammed. For example when I asked for advice about a white wine the waiter proposed one of the cheapest! By the way all their wines from the area of Venetia are very good at prices between 19 - 25 €/75 cl bottle.
We had also 3 dinners this year. The service is very kind, off course my wife and I try to speak some Italian and we found that some waiters like to present in French - the language of gastronomy - what's on the menu.
We were very happy following their suggestions proposing shells as starter. The Capesante (coquilles St-Jacques, scallop) and the Capelunghe (couteaux, razor shell clams) were delicious as well as fish like Rombo (turbot) and sole. If you visit in the morning the fish market on the other side of the Grand Canal you will understand why it is possible to eat well in Venice!
We also had that favoured dish of us when we are in Venice: the Tagliolini alla Granseola (pasta with spider crab flesh).
A three course dinner, like the Italians do, plus a bottle wine, water, coffee and a grappa for me did cost all inclusive between 90 - 100 € for us two.
Favorite Dish: Capesante and Capelunghe shells as starters.

Hosteria Al Vecio Bragosso: Decent lunch, great views.
Location is great, right on the Strada Nuova where you can sit outside and people-watch. Waiters aren't the friendliest, but the food is good.
Favorite Dish: I dined here for lunch in June 2010: Small tagliattini pasta with pancetta and mushrooms (three types) - rich in flavor and quite filling. With a glass of wine, the bill came to 16 euros ($20).

Al Vecio Bragosso: Cuisine Vénitienne de qualité - Quality
Très bon restaurant où nous avons mangé trois soirs de suite et où la dizaine de plats testés: cozze e vongole, fritta mista di mare, coquilles St-Jacques al Bragosso, pasta del dia (sorte de crêpe farcie ce jour là), sole, tagliolini alla granseola, pasta al Bragosso étaient tous délicieux.
Les prix de ces plats se situaient entre 8 et 13€ auxquels il faut ajouter 3€ de coperto/pain et un pourboire laissé à l'appréciation du client. Le service étant efficace, aimable et disposé à donner des explications en plusieurs langues sans pousser à prendre les plats ou vins chers, un pourboire de 10% nous semblait mérité. Il n'y a pas de vin du patron mais les premiers prix par bouteille de vin sont de 17 - 18€ pour des vins tout à fait convenables.
Avec deux plats par personne, vin, eau, café, dessert (excellent tiramisu) nous en avions pour 70€ tout compris pour un dîner de qualité.
On three evenings we had diner at this very good restaurant. We tasted about ten different dishes of pasta or seafood and they were all excellent. The prices of these dishes were between 8 and 13€ to which one has to add coperto/pane of 3€. The service is not included.
The waiters are efficient, kind and give explanations in several languages. They don't push to take more expensive dishes or wines. A 10 % tip seemed to us well deserved.
There is no wine of the house but first prizes for a bottle good quality wine are at 17 - 18€.
With two dishes per person, wine, water, coffee, dessert (excellent tiramisu) we paid somewhat less than 70€, all inclusive, for a real quality dinner.
Favorite Dish: Toutes les pâtes, poissons et fruits de mer.

Hosteria Al vecio Bragosso: Special seafood!
One of the best restaurant I found in Venice (I?ve been there four times). They have very good carpaccios, whatever seafood you choose, is the right choice. The hall reminds the interior of an old boat, the staff is young and very friendly, everything is clean and accurate. Quite wide choice of wines. A bit expensive, however, you?re in Venice?

great food and reasonably priced (by Venetian standards)
Eat Al Fresco - or if the weather is not up to it, the interior is also very nice.
Favorite Dish: I started with the Home made Seafood Ravioli, in a fish sauce - it was wonderful.
Then sticking with a "fishy theme" I has Sea Bass - excellent choice.
The waiters were very friendly and helpful.
