Burano island was where the fishermen of Venice lived. It is a short ride across the lagoon and has colorful houses and nice little shops for lace and other local items.
While there in May 2009, we ate a splendid lunch at "A Raspo De 'Ua (local dialect) or A' Graspo de Uva in Italian (a bunch of grapes). It is in the heart of the market place.
Favorite Dish: The food was to die for. Fish pate, fish and shrimp lasagna, local fish, shrimp and calamari, plus desserts that we ate despite being stuffed to the gills.
We had lunch here and loved it. Food was great, waiter was cool and the owner has his paintings hung throughout the restaurant. You can even catch him painting in the back.
Favorite Dish: Scampi risotto and spaghetti with clams were delicious. House wine was good too.
Reputed to be the best restaurant in the lagoon. A popular meeting place for artists - the walls inside are covered with art work too.
Expensive but its setting in Burano anmidst all the colour waas worthwhile.
We enjoyed a simple but delicious Risotto - its speciality, flavoured with fish broth.
Excellent service too.

Well this restaurant was not my favorite but one that our tour director took us to . It is on the island of Burano - Venezia and the sign says Trattoria Locanda Al Raspo De Ua . What the real name of that place is I do not know .
After you stuff you face take a walk around town and see the different colored houses and lace boutiques . It is a quaint town where I always found a smiling face .
Favorite Dish: They had served like a fish lasagne , which I picked at and it wasn't too bad .
