Osteria Vivaldi: Cold Lasagne!!! :-(

This restaurant was about a five minute walk from Rialto Bridge. My partner and I walked around trying to find somewhere authentic with no 'touristo' menu as it was my 30th Birthday.
First impressions was the staff were typically venetian and the lights were too bright, as it seemed in nearly every eatery in Venice for some reason.
My partner ordered Scampi and I ordered Lasagne.
The Scampi came complete and with no side dish like a sauce or potatoes which I think we should have been told when we ordered. Might be me being a typical Brit abroad but no garlic bread was on offer so I had a lonely looking small piece of Lasagne which looked better than what my partner had been served so I cracked on. Only to my dismay, the Lasagne was warm on the outside and COLD on the inside. I discretly told the waiter and he snatched the plate away and delivered a fresh piping hot piece of Lasagne five minutes later with an unsympathetic apology. The meal was ruined and expensive, wasn't even offered a complimentry glass of wine and service was added onto the bill to my dismay. My birthday was ruined. Thanks Mr moustache!

Favorite Dish: The side dishes we wasn't advised to order!

Osteria Vivaldi: Great place, close to the Rialto

This was our first sit down meal in Venice. I was excited about all the good things I heard about this place. My wife started with the Vegetable soup. The soup had no flavor, she said it was simply hot water with diced flavorless veggies. I ordered the lasagna to start with. I may just be Americanized, but is it the Italian way to remove 90% of the cheese in a lasagna and replace it by stuffing the entire lasagne with green peas? I am not a green peas fan, so I thought I could pick around them, after 30 minutes I came to realize there were more green peas than actual lasagna and I gave up. Before I talk about the 2nd course, I have to say the staff was very courteous and professional and the wine was great. The place had a cozy feeling, and was a great choice to have a relaxing evening out. We decided to split the grilled beef flavored with rosemary, and pommes frittes for an entree. It was outstanding. The meat was sliced and cooked 30 seconds past rare and the rosemary flavor came through in every bite. It was a simple dish, but prepared perfectly.

Favorite Dish: grilled beef flavored with rosemary
