I loved the views of the Venetian bridges. The Ponte delle Guglie was formerly known as Ponte di Cannaregio, but lost its name when it was reconstructed in 1823 with pinnacles in each of the four corners.
In the Dorsoduro area is another well known venetian bridge - the Ponte dei Pugni - so called as this is where fights took place and the loser ended up in the canal! Look out for the stone footprints which marked the starting point of the contest.
In San Polo area is the Ponte delle Tette - this is the old "red light" district of Venice, where prostitutes displayed their "attributes" at the windows overlooking this "Bridge of Breasts".

Address: Dorsoduro
there are 3 bridges that cross the Grand Canal, each is quite unique and has its own story. It was lovely to walk between them and cross over them, looking right down the canal as it curves. Lots of good photo opportunites as well. This can be done at nice lesiurly pace and allows you to see many of Venices fine buildings that line the canal.

Address: The Grand Canal
There are three bridges that cross the Grand Canal. The one pictured here is the Accademia bridge, it connects the San Marco section and the Dorsoduro region. It's a long wooden bridge with a great view of the church of Santa Maria Della Salute. The Accademia Gallary is directly in front of the bridge and the Campo Morosini is the square on the San Marco section that leads to the bridge. The other two bridges are the Rialto bridge and the Degli Scalzi bridge.

There are only 3 bridges that span the Grand Canal. Let's take a look at them starting with Ponte degli Scalzi on the northern end of the canal by the train station and moving toward the famous Ponte di Rialto and then finally the Ponte dell'Accademia on the southern end.

Translated as 'Bridge of the Barefoot', this white stone bridge crosses the Grand Canal in front of the train station. It was built in 1934 to replace an Austrian iron bridge.
