Campi, Calli and Canali, Venice
We were just siting at a little wall in a quiet srteet when a huge boat appeared behind us, higher than the houses around! It was a quite strange view, a bit surrealistic...
Venice is small and self-contained, an area of only 1-1/2 by 2-1/2 miles. You can walk from one end to the other in an hour or so.
This is what you get to see from the 'gondel'. You can see excactly how high and low the water gets.
A town built entirely with no roads, it is hard to not find charm in a community that lives on the water.
Beautiful maze, it covers Venice entirely. Water is not so great, but well... we are not there for a swim.
The little side canals can be very interesting. We enjoyed walking around the city and exploring the areas off the main tourist trail.
