    The river Retrone

by croisbeauty Updated Jan 6, 2005

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The two rivers flow through the town of Vicenza making it very pitoresque, the first is Retrone and the second one river of Bacchiglione. This is river of Retrone with Basilica Palladiana in prospective, one of the most suggestive scene you can shot in Vicenza.

    Ponte San Michele

by croisbeauty Updated Jan 2, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Ponte San Michele is undoubtely the most beautiful bridge across the river of Retrone. In order to preserve it for the future generations, this 1620 built bridge is premanently closed for the traffic. This example of the local authorities shold be followed in other Italian cities, where most of the fine old bridges still serve for the traffic.

Another one of Vicenza's remarkable palladian monuments is Palazzo Cavalloni Thiene dating from 1500 in Gothic-Venetian style.

One of its main features is the inside painted ceiling.

Another example of the Gothic-Venetian style which characterized Vicenza between 1440 and 1480, Palazzo Trissino Sperotti still has the original adornments in marble.

Take a stroll through the park above Monte Berico. Or drive through the Berici Hills, stopping at new restaurants or local wineries that strike your fancy.

Here is the town I lived in by Vicenza. It's pretty small, but the people are wonderful. Not much to see, but you can enjoy a cappuccino and check out the church
