Loggia Valmarana, Vicenza
To find the Loggia, head to the Giardini Salvi which is at the western end of town, from Corso Palladio, through the old city walls, just up on the right. The 6 doric columns with triangular gable lie peacefully on the waters in the park.
The Loggia Valmarana is describeds as “Palladian”, though it was not design/constructed by Palladio himself. Rather, by one true to his teachings. Probably executed by Leonard Valmarana, of the family of counts who owned and lived in the building.
The park offers a nice break from the downtown scene, and is conveniently close.
The beautiful Loggia Valmarana is the first building that attracts all the attention in Giardino Salvi.
Located on the waters of Seriola, the Loggia is made of six Doric columns crowned by a triangular gable.
Magnificent 400 year loggia that bridges Riva Seriolo. The river flows directly through the lower part of the building. This ancient Grecian Doric style structure was designed by a student of Palladio, whose masterpieces dominate Vicenza and the surrounding regions. The loggia is located in the city park of Giardini Sali in the eastern part of Vicenza. It is in the Same vicinity as Palladio's Teatro Olympico.
