Espetada Restaurant

The food here was so delicious we kept returning to this restaurant for more. Perhaps we had three or four meals in this restaurant, they were all excelent. "A Espetada" is the tradicional dish from Madeira Island: beef or fish served on a skewer. They also have other dishes including "bacalhau com natas" (dried salted cod baked with potatoes and cream) and vegetarian options (vegetable espatada was delicious!). The young lady waiting our table was born in Jersey from Portuguese parents. She told us the Portuguse are the largest minority in Jersey, they represent 6% of the population and most arrived from Madeira in the years before Portugal joined the EU. This restaurant does not have a separate room for non-smokers.

A Black Dog, a Bar and a Pig

We arrived at this pub around 2 in the afternoon after spending the whole morning walking, it was windy and cold outside... and the sun was no longer shining on us. I was so happy to enter this place and get a table in front of the open fire. Bliss! We had a long three course meal of delicious food and felt tempted to spend the whole afternoon here - it was really cosy.

Superbly located in St Helier, Gorey and St Lawrence, Ming's Dynasty offers you a reputable Chinese Restaurant in every port! Ming specialises in the complete Chinese experience, you don't have to sit on the floor but there is real China Tea and Chinese wine with a Chinese label. Specialities such as duck and shark's fin soup, fresh Jersey sole fillet Cantonese, Yum Goring and coffee or china tea served with fortune cookies bring the locals pouring in. Duck and pancakes are the most popular choice. At Cheapside, 'sizzling beef' is the speciality, and don't forget that vegetarians are catered for at all Ming's Restaurants.

Run by Italians this is authentic Italian food in Jersey. The pizzas are superb as well as the pasta dishes.

Unless you eat early it is recommended to book as this place is very popular.

There are so many lovely dishes but the pizza of the day is normally a culinary, gourmet delight. Also if you love risotto - go for the mushroom one. Yummy!

You have to book to avoid disappointment. Whatever you choose from the menu will have you eating with gusto. The bread accompanying the meal is made on the premises and is heavenly. If you have room at the end check out the mini pudding selection - nearly all the desserts in bite size quantities. Wine list is extensive.

AT THE YACHTING CLUB

Here I am with friends and friends, having dinner at the Yachting Club.

They served me an exquisite fish dish and most lovely ice cream, afer we had had our drinks and snacks of course.....

So sorry this is for members only.....but I like to see my hospitable, formidable friends in this page.....

The pace of life here is so much more quiet than on the Continent......and the people more friendly!

I can only say: go there and see for yourself!
