Regular 20-30mins service off season too, costing just £1.60. Returns from Liberation Square - a new modern bus station and spotless buses. Luggage space a bit limited so try to get early in the queue and sit at front. Taxis to Saint Helier are often up to £15
Jersey has a good bus service (15 is one of few buses with sunday service)
Check the Connex site at mybus.je. We were in Jersey off-season in March and found buses very satisfactory

The most interesting way to the castle is on the "puddleduck" - it's an amphibious craft and the journey takes around 10 mins if the tide is in or 5 mins if not. For more enjoyment go when the tide is in!
