Halkett Covered Market: Shop off the big brands

by Mooglosaurus

Before there were department stores, there were covered markets. This is one of them. Built in 1882 in Victorian architecture it is just so airy and light it's a real pleasure to walk in it. There's good food, yarn, postcards, fruits and vegetables, flowers, books, clothes, souvenirs, all you could possibly want. There is also a post office for your stamps.

The Central Market: a unique shopping experience

by flyer_e901

The market is a great place to shop for everything under one roof. Whether it's milk, flowers, souvenirs, books, this place has it all! You can even find the UK's first mailbox right here. Black Butter (Le Niere Buerre), organic Jersey milk or ice cream, Jersey royal potatoes.

Bergerac Wine Cellar: Wine Shop

by pocketpiglet

This shop looks small from the outside but it has a nice selection of wines. The lady running the shop is very friendly and helpful in a non-intrusive way. It's good to keep in mind that Jersey is out of the EU so there are limits to what you can bring back to the EU. If I remember correctly the limit is 2 bottles of still wine + 2 of fizzy, but anyway the lady will be able to tell you.

Jersey Pottery: Pottery in Jersey

by Tea4Two

The designs are unique. Particular favourites of mine are the tidal clock and ordinary clock. The piggy banks are also pretty and make a great gift. For the kids you can take part in Glaze Craze. Basically you can paint any design of your choice for a small fee and collect the item once it has been fired. Keeps kids occupied for long enough for you to enjoy a homemade cake and coffee! anything upwards of £5.00

The factory Gorey Village in GROUVILLE is the owner of this shop and sells here its wonderful products. The factory is one of the largest industries in Jersey. The emphasis is on highest quality and to achieve that objective there works a team of well known artists and some 200 workmen and together they manage to produce over 200 different earthenware objects in 32 different designs.Depending on the decoration the objects sometimes have to be burnt in the kiln for 3 times at temps. that can be as high as 1.240 degrees Celsius.(I am an amateur potter myself, so I know how difficult the glazing is)They like using glazing with metals of 23 krt. GOLD, PLATINA and BRONZE in it which give amazing results.....See my MUST SEE tip and go visit the factory first, after that the shop.....There is ample info as for the production process and in another atelier artists are painting the...

JERSEY WOOLLEN MILLS: I AM FREEZING.....

by eden_teuling

For over 4 Centuries the TRADITIONAL Jersey and Guernsey woollies are almost everyone's favourite. The manufacturers of the MILLS still use the traditional model to make the jersies.....and only use 100 % of pure, oiled wool. The oiling makes the woollie durable and warm.Visitors can be eye-witnesses of the design and production process of these woollies and of course, yes, of course, YOU CAN BUY ONE.... if you have a bulging wallet because they are quite expensive, but very good value!A Restaurant with a bar serves lunch and tea inside and on the outside terrace, weather permitting of course. There is a fine place where children can play safely! depends.
