La Mare Wine Estate
If you are British and a wine lover have you ever thought of trying wine closer to home? To be honest I had not especially with coming from Cape Town where the warmth of the sun aids in producing fabulous wines, so I thought how could can a Jersey wine taste. To find out I paid my GBP7.50 to learn about the vineyards of La Mare and the distillery of their unique apple brandy as well as to sample 3 of their wines. Unfortunately when we went it was foul weather to wander the vineyards but I believe in summer the guide will take you on a stroll through the vineyards whilst giving you the history of the farm. One of the wines is named after Le Perquage which is a path leading from the church to the beach which criminals could use to walk with safe passage to leave the island for good after the eigth day of refuge in the church, rather then face their punishment in court.I quite enjoyed the...
