Orchids

by Tea4Two

One of the finest collections of orchids in all the world is to be found at the Eric Young Orchid Foundation, deep in the heart of the Jersey countryside at Victoria Village, Trinity, which is housed in a new purpose-built nursery and exhibition complex formally opened in June 2001. Exhibitors at many of the major presentations around the world, this unique collection has won many prestigious international awards, establishing an unrivalled world-wide reputation and the skills of the Jersey breeders is universally acknowledged to be unsurpassed. The Foundation was established in 1958 by the late Eric Young, a trained scientist who, even from childhood, was a gifted horticulturist. Before his untimely death he had developed one of the finest collections of orchids anywhere in the world. But this was no private passion. Eric Young's dream was for the foundation to maintain and develop the...

Air Display

by Tea4Two

An incredible FREE Air Display. The Display itself takes place away from the confines of the airport in St. Aubin's Bay on the south coast of the Island. The geography of the bay provides a fantastic natural amphitheatre for the display aircraft as well as offering spectators a wide variety of vantage points.

Film Festival

by Tea4Two

A balmy evening, a picnic, glass of wine and a good movie. What more could you ask for?!For one week in August there is an open air cinema in a local park where the locals and tourists gather to enjoy a picnic and a good film (normally a past blockbuster, family movie).Best bit of all - it is FREE!!

Jersey Zoo

by Tea4Two

Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic. No trip to Jersey would be complete without a day spent at the zoo. Okay it does not have elephants, giraffes etc but it makes up for that in wonderful surroundings with animals virtually roaming free. Best time to go is in late spring when all the "parents" are showing the latest additions to their families. Another tip, if the weather is nice, is to take your own picnic.

Battle of Flowers

by Tea4Two

This is an annual parade which occurs on the second Thursday in August. Hundreds of people are involved in building huge themed floats. Millions of flowers are imported to the island to adorn these floats and it is quite spectacular to see. There is also a moonlight parade which involves most of the floats. Best to see both parades so as not to miss any of the excitement!!

HISTORICAL PERFORMANCES IN JERSEY

by eden_teuling

There are always shows in summer and it is a joy to see them.It gives an impression on how life must once have been there up in the castles. These men are preparing themselves and their horses to take part. The Island's Historical Sites see almost as much life now as they did in their heyday!!Some of them are used for living history re-enactments of major events in Jersey's History!
