Maks Pauls Berci is the most famous Liepaja's architect, who designed a lot of buildings in Liepaja's centre from 1871 till 1902.
M. P. Berci in Liepaja is the same as Gaudi in Barcelona, if you walk the central part, you could see Berci buildings in such addresses: Graudu str. 42 (Confectionary "Bonica" building), Kr. Valdemara str. 4 (Nicholas' gymnasium), Zivju str. 3 (Remedlova' trade house) and so on.
It could be that Liepaja is the best place in Baltic states to find wooden architecture. In old part there are lot of nice wooden houses from 18 - 20th centuries. Some of them still need of recostruction, but some alreay renovated and used for hotels, restaurants.
Due to Liepaja's wooden style filmmakers like this place as well.
Favorite thing: Climb the tower of the Trinity Church (Trisvrenibas baznica) and see a beautiful panorama of the city, harbour, sea and surrounding lakes.
