There were many fires in Ludza. The last fire was in 1938. That?s why old wooden architecture didn?t save. Catholic Church was firing too. It was renovated in 1995.

Between these lakes are Livonian knights? castle?s ruins. The castle was built in 1399. Ludza?s town history started in 1177.
