If You travel around Latvia & sudenly you came also to Valmiera, the you shoul go to club "ESCAPE". There is 3 bars, what is very unusual for Valmiera, 2 dancefloors and, what I like the best, Go-Go dancers & once in a month, STRIP!!! :)) there you can easily relax and enjoy yourself and people around you! No trainers!!!
The Orange Bar is tucked away down a small alley in the heart of Riga's old town. When you venture in you will find great indie and alternative music and a mix of people just as happy chilling in a corner as dancing manically. This is clearly a favourite with the locals - busy every night and no other tourists in sight. Brilliant place. Anything you like.
Well, it is the largest nightclub in Riga. True. Two rooms, one with electronic music, primarily progressive house, break beat, sometimes techno-trance. Other room is more R&B, with another large bar on the top floor.For me, it is a typical guide book club, well-known but everybody hates. Locals don't go there because it's been so much touristicized, it was full of foreign guys and remaining girls were there for professional purposes. There are better crowds in Riga, check out other places and skip Essential. If you really wanna go, up to you. Go and check but this place has lost its crowd so nothing much to do actually. Anything
In spite of the fact that an international event was being held in Riga, I did not like the nightlife there. Neither the places we were in nor the atmosphere were for my taste: small places, crowded, smelly... drunken people. Maybe on an ordinary week it would have looked better. I will have to try.As for the rest of the country.... hmmmm. nightlife?? Maybe... you can try Jurmala in the summer... Or maybe I was not directed to the good addresses.
It is a popular (rock, basicly) group among the young, especially, Latvians, its members come from Jelgava. They had won the 3rd place in Eurovision, I think at the contest of 2000. I had liked them a lot, music is an international language... This concert had been taken place near a wonderful castle, among a river, in Bauska, a southern town.
Very popular and snobbish nightclub/stripclub in the old town in Riga.... very big, more expensive drinks than other places in Riga and for only 4$ you can get a VIP-guard...heheAnd when you are ready to go home around six in the morning, there are white and black Limo's waiting outside to drive you home for less than 30$ pr hour.. No jeans, shorts, sneakers, trainers, sweatsuits etc.Nice trousers/skirts, black shoes, for boys if not a tie then a very fancy shirt.
There is a nihgtclub located in the Basement of the Hotel though I prefer to hit the local nightclub located just literally around the corner from the Hotel just folow the queue of pretty girls and you can't miss it. Located opposite Mcdonalds fast food the golden arches strikes again.... smart no jeans or trainers
Summer in the city!Try wandering through Old Riga's pubs in the hot summer nights! You gona like it, at least I do :).Can name some preferences like Casablanka, Pulkvedis, Melnais Kakis, but in fact that doesn't matter - just go on into every pub, ask for a beer or what ever you like, and go for another pub if you dicide this one isn't the best for you. There IS a choise :)WHOLE Old Riga.You will find something for YOUR taste. Bars and pubs are different, and at least 2-3 you will find as excellent for you. ... the only place where there is OFICIAL Dress Code is place called '4 balti krekli' (4 white shirts). Good place to listen to the latvian music (not ethnographic, just pop), but you cannot get in if you wear sports-wear (sports-shoes also are forbitten)
