I'm not sure that everybody miss this place, but I recommend it strongly - it is seaside between Ventspils and Liepaja, arount Pavilosta. Nature, nature, just nature :)(almost the same on lakes at Latgale - Eastern Latvia, I was there by bike on Eastern - and that was wonderful. Beautiful.)

If you have a car, I would suggest a visit to Kuldiga which is a nice, old-fashioned town in the western part of Latvia (Courland). Their main attraction is the widest waterfall in Europe, some 150 m!

I you really want to experience the tourist-less, 'wild' countryside of Latvia, go to region called Latgale (eastern part of Latvia). Called the 'land of blue lakes' it gives not only access to unspoiled nature (forests, medows, hills, with few inhabitants around) but also a dramatic insight into poorer life in countryside.

Ferry in Ligatne (Ligatnes parceltuve)

It is a unique ferry on the River Gauja. Doesn’t work in winter time. Absolutely for free. If You’ll find the ferry 1 km far from Ligatne. There is narrow mud road with many turnings.
