This is a quick place to grab lunch or dinner, there was almost always a line but it goes quick. This location is open very late, open 9am-4am.
All the Pelmeni are the same price and weighed at the end, I think our total bill for 2 drinks and 2 bowls of pelmeni was around 2 lv ($4 US) and the drinks were most of the cost.
Grab a bowl and fill it up with one or more varieties of pelmeni, dumplings filled with different meats (I think there was one vegetarian option as well). As I can't read Latvian, I just tried a few of each and all were good.

This place had a MUCH bigger selection than Alus Seta, the Lido restaurant in Old Riga, so if you are willing to walk just a bit further, you should go here instead. And maybe you can justify adding one more thing to your plate ;-)
On our first time thru I made the mistake of not looking at the whole buffet, the buffet goes on for several rooms so make sure you peruse the whole thing before starting to order.
The interior is decorated like an old farm house, I must have missed the stream that the guidebook says it has. The restaurant is huge and we didn't have trouble getting a table on either visit.
Our bill came to 8 lv both times with drinks(around $16US) Cash Only

Vermanitis is similar to Dzirnavas, both are owned by the Lido group, both are cafeteria style with similar pricing. I think there is less seating at this restaurant, it was almost full on the day we went for lunch.
The interior was a little more modern, if you want more of a old world ambiance go to Dzirnavas.
Same type of food as Dzirnavas-lots of meat, fried potatoes, blintzes, potato pancakes.
The desserts here looked really good so I grabbed one, it was not what it appeared to be and not nearly as tasty or as sweet as I thought it would be. I would stick to the fruit filled blintzes for dessert, the banana ones were really good! It's a busy place, we had a short wait to get a table but service is quick and the pizzas don't take long to make since they are thin crust.
Pizzas in Riga are a bit different than American pizzas. Most of the pizzas are loaded with 5 or more ingredients and are actually quite colorful. They don't have much tomato sauce but they do have bottles of ketchup on the table if you need the tomato flavor. I thought they were good without the ketchup.

Wooden furniture, comfy sofas and warm colours make this basement bar a good spot to have a lunch in the Old Town - they offer cheap lunch deals and here cheap doesn't mean bad! Or order anything from the menu like Greek salad, streamed trout or pork chops. And you don't have to be an adept of helthy lifestyle to try one of their amazing "healthy cocktails".

Well, I think you have to see it. It is a very big restaurant, but self service. You can see how the food is made and choose what you want. There is a big choise of local food and other international food.
